Do you know about the ISS? It is very bright and Here is a link to see if it passed your way. Just put in info, time, date act and see if that was it.
Another site too for satellites in general.

If you identify it won't be a UFO, it will just be a boring satellite.

You aren't alone. I have seen very bright objects in the sky here in north-east England, that travel in a southerly to northerly direction. Also, whilst they don't appear to be conventional aircraft I haven't been able to identify these as the ISS. I say "these" because I have seen this object a couple of times, and I can't rule out the possiblity that it is more than one craft, any more than I can rule out that it is the same thing I'm seeing on different nights.

Whatever the object(s) appears to be, I'm guessing it could be something as simple as a vehicle with a large solar panel array, making it highly reflective. Perhaps some government somewhere have built a second space station, or just have a huge new communications array that is totally top secret, and as a result we aren't suppoesed to know about it.

But I am not overly concerned about nailing this one. I would certainly be happy if I could figure out how to identify all things I see in the sky, but I'm content with a mystery for now.

thanks for that tidbit. About a month ago I saw something that I knew wasnt a plane but I didnt wanna call it aliens. I was thinking maybe it was a satellite possibly the ISS but wasnt sure where to look so I dismissed it until I saw this thread. I live in the middle of nowhere so I wasnt really sure if the ISS ever passed overhead but i looked on the site and it passes over me one more time this year on the 18th. Lol i will be outside watching to see if it looks like what I saw the last time.

I've seen something similar. At first i thought it was a plane but even though it was night and just a light i was seeing in the sky it still seemed entirely too high up to be a plane. And it was just a white light no red blue or anything ( I THINK airplanes are supposed to have blinking lights but as of posting this I am not sure). It was also moving at a pretty good rate of speed. I would say from the moment I noticed it I only had sight of it for maybe a minute horizon to horizon. Moved in a straight line. Just one speck of light I just so happened to notice.....looked like a star just started moving out of nowhere basically.

I use space weather myself. simple satellite tracker. I've on occasion seen satellites not listed.
Just wondering If they could be military/black ops type which I'm guessing they won't want to list?

Yea check it out, it is impressive and the source for a lot ufo sightings. Hell I saw it 4 years ago while sitting out on my deck and called all the relatives exclaiming I'd seen a ufo.

It left my jaw dropped and gave me chills cuz I thought it was the real deal! haha Then someone pointed out the ISS schedule and sure enough next time it came around it all made sense.

Midnight seems a little late to see a satellite. Was it moving quickly? Was it directly above or closer to the horizon? Was it visible from horizon to horizon? How long did you see it for?

I've seen lots of planes and lots of satellites. You may have seen a plane making a turn but pointed in your general direction, which would block out the blinking lights.

That would be a huge glitch in the safety department in my books. Nav lights work as long as you're not turning!

Probably Alex Salmonds brain

Next time you see it fly over... beg and plead with it to come back down to earth for the benefit of Scotland's future

I've seen a brilliant white boomerang traveling across the entire night sky all the way down to the tree line from behind my head, too fast to be a satellite as I've seen them countless times, they're fairly slow and dim in the sky although some are brighter than other bit always round in shape,

We even ducked down for cover as I was sure there was going to be a huge bang, there was no trail or sparkly colours as you would expect from a meteor, it was a solid brilliant white boomerang shaped object, I've seen lots of oncoming planes, lots or meteorites and lots of satellites

Neither fit the description of what me and my brother saw early one morning on the way to work

Sometimes strange things happen which we cannot explain

There are some classified platforms that may occasionally fly over the area. You may have seen one of them. There is a reason it looks like that, but I can't say much.

Oh come on now, you can't say that and just leave us hanging? Spill it! Or are you just uncertain?

No, I know exactly why, but I have to be careful with what I say because I can get other people in trouble if it gets tracked back to them.
