I agree that Reid is probably corrupt, as I believe so many of our corporate sponsored politicians are (have you seen The Distinguished Gentleman", with Eddie Murphy?), and I believe that China doesn't care about the environment, especially on our continent, and I believe we are acting like whores in selling to foreign nations, letting them use our resources to take profits home, but I also imagine that Mr. Bundy paid what the fees were and not the fees plus 20 yeas of fines.

I do object to public takings of private land, as in eminent domain, as now that can be done not necessarily for the public good, but for a profitable nature that would generate tax revenues rather than a needed highway or something crucial for the public's direct use.

If you've read any of my comments on other threads, you many have seen something like this, which is the case: My father was a grade 17 back in the day, for the General Accounting Office (now called the General Accountability Office), was a regional manager in charge of 11 states at one point, and had only the Controller General of the U.S., his assistant, the Field Directors and their assistants, for bosses. He was very high up. Top Secret clearance, and told me many stories of government screw-ups with corporate thievery, and his opinion of Congress was that they were mostly crooked, stupid, or both. And its only gotten worse since then, especially with the new laws regarding funding of politicians by the wealthy and corporations.

With unlimited donations, to even think there will be no corruption is insane. The old saying, follow the money holds forth. So, selling out to China doesn't surprise me, I just think this particular case is one that has been going on for a couple of decades but the government finally decided to act and the media loves it just as the anti-government types do too.

We need oversite of public lands, we have to charge for this, and he was trying to cheat while the other ranchers of the area paid their fees. Even if Reid and China are part of it, Bundy was still acting in a criminal manner.

Seems to be a current trend in the west, selling out to the Chinese.

George Osbourne has pretty much sold our (UK) nuclear industry to the Chinese, and I think there are other things going on in other areas that also involve letting the Chinese in.

At this rate, the Chinese are going to have all the power, literally!

Further more, you also have no problem with kicking out American's and using lethal force to do so off their own land so the Communists can have it to do as they wish with it in the land of the FREE, the USA!

I am speechless, that you are turning a blind eye to the fact that our government is willing to sell us out to Communist controlled Countries...

Why would you be speechless?, since these are the same principles the USA was founded on.

The Native Americans were almost wiped out over a land grab, and those that were left were rounded up like cattle and put on reservations.

There is a malignant cancer that lies deep within almost everyone on this planet, blind ignorance, narcissism, hypocrisy, and the ability to never look at ourselves objectively.

Our delusions will be our downfall.

As soon as people pick sides, races, countries, boundaries, or which team they plan to play for they are easily swayed. Divide and conquer.

If we could all agree that there is only one race, "The Human Race" then we would have a better chance at global symbiosis.

Great find Pax, here is another example of Dirty Harry feathering his nest:

Senate confirms Neil Kornze as BLM director

BY COLBY ITKOWITZ
April 8 at 5:51 pm

The Senate confirmed Neil Kornze to run the Bureau of Land Management, where he currently works as its principal deputy director. Previously, the native Nevadan worked on public lands issues in Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) office.

Link

But wait there is more!

Before coming to the BLM, Kornze worked as a Senior Policy Advisor to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada. In his work for Senator Reid, which spanned from early 2003 to early 2011
www.doi.gov...

So here is a man whose major work experience is working for Dirty Harry from 2003 to 2011. Then he gets a job with the BLM and somehow raises to the directorship in just 2 years. Really? 2 years? Oh Harry you got another one in your pocket.

The kind of thing Putin is doing has always been done. Selling the soil of the USA to a foreign country that is normally thought of as an enemy of the USA is not the norm.
Public lands are being sold from forests to deserts without any imput from the people who are supposed to own them. On top of this China is buying up companies, a tech company outside our town is now owned by the Chinese.

It is an odd thing to give an outside country what could grow to be essentially control of the electric flow in an area.

It is also strange that is such a power producing company is a good business idea, why are none of our own doing this.

(the last cattle rancher left in Clark County, NV btw) -

I don't see how this could be possible...I was born and raised as a child in the area, my father broke wild horses for a living when I was young.

Some of the biggest cattle ranches around are there. Even right outside Reno is the Famous Black Angus Ranch. My aunt owns a huge cattle and alfalfa ranch on the edge of the county in the desert...for those who don't know there are a ton of springs and streams year round and seasonal rivers in the area.

Sheep are raised in the high meadows and brought down to the railroad in the spring by the basque sheepherders, this is still true today.

Maybe you mean free range on public land cattle ranching? Yes I think you mean the last in that area of Nev. to run cattle on BLM land because they started charging so much and insisted the herds be cut to near nothing.

You really need to read the report linked in the post above yours.

I realize you posted one minute after that post.

Please read and comment back.

So I read the entire report. The final location they are talking about as descrbed on page 20 is near the Harry Allen Gennerating Station . If you wish to pull out your google maps and punch in the location of the Bundy Ranch area and the Harry Allen Generation you will find more that 50 miles between the two and on the other side of I-15. Not to mention the land they are talking about already has federal infrustructure from the generator plant, the gypsum plant, mining claims and pipelines. You will notice it is bordered by the Old Spanish Trail/ Mormon Highway which is a archaelogical site. So this is not the same land at all. In fact the land they are looking at for in the study for solar plants is already full of activity and infrastructure to keep the costs down. This is also one study of one location out of five. This area has not been chosen yet and with this report and others from the other locations they will then do a study to compare them on all on impact and cost. Your still talking about years before they even make a choice and then they have to have public hearings on the area they chose. So trying to some how work this into the Bundy Ranch narrative simply is not supported by the facts as we know them.

The sociopaths getting elected are out-sourcing our way of life.

Does America have it's own solar or windfarm manufacturing company's?

Seems American representatives should be supporting American company's.

Why do you keep hammering on about "Communist" China?

communism

This is not a chinese state buying the land, it is a chinese company, a country with free trade, if the deal was from "Communist China", it would have been done by the sole Energy providor in China.

A couple things:

1) Your link doesn't work.
2) Didn't this deal fall through last year?
3) The area planned for the power plant and the area that Mr. Bundy had his cattle grazing aren't even remotely close to each other.

Ignoring all the stuff about scary commies and treason I think you're just plain wrong.

Links is right.

According to your info. Pax, the Chinese are looking for land down around Laughlin, NV, which is much further south than the Bundy Ranch situation which is suppose to be outside of Mesquite, NV.

The two are less than 200 miles apart, I believe it was 600,000 acres that the cattle run on.It takes a lot of acreage in that kind of area to feed cattle by nature even though he drops hay in the winter months, by roads he built himself.
Here is says 500,000

Officials say Bundy and his son are illegally running cattle in the 500,000-acre Gold Butte area, ...

I am an American and I have the same worries about our government. When I was young everyone respected a law enforcement officer, heck, when I was in the military I was a security specialist and had law enforcement training, I nearly chose becoming a state trooper after the military but backed out at the last minute.

Now, the FEDERAL government has militarized our local police forces with low cost or free military equipment. When I drive down the road and see a police car, I get worried that I will be pulled over and harassed for no reason, it has happened to me before. Instead of respecting law enforcement people now fear them.

Since 911, the government has created a system were everyone is considered a terrorist threat, including law abiding Americans. Our elected government politicians are paranoid, corrupt, and do not seek office to make America better, they do it for power and self indulgence of greed.

When the US started the DHS, in my opinion, we became a police state. Our government is out of control, they are leaving our constitution in shambles. What you are seeing with the Bundy issue is a push back on the government due to anger, not simply because of a cattle rancher, but because we are tired of government over reach and Gestapo type tactics. My fear is it will not end here.

Yes, Americans have weapons, but average Americans are not blood thirsty, we leave that for the politicians. Until we implement term limits and start jailing federal politicians for corruption it will only get worse. How many federal politicians have been imprisoned for corruption? How many federal employees get fired (other than military officers that don't agree with Obama)?

I guarantee you, if the BLM would have shot an unarmed American you would have seen a rise in angry Americans with weapons. The government knows most Americans are unhappy and are aware of their corruption and heavy handed tactics, that is why the government is militarizing. In the end, if violence is the tactic the government chooses, they will lose badly. I hope I never need to defend my freedom with violence, but make no mistake, I would rather die a free man than kneel down in front of government death squads and I am sure most true Americans feel the same. The majority of Americans do not seek violence, we respond to it.

It would be nice if the public had a say in what happens on public lands. States should have rights over the public land per state also.
The ranchers were paying the state until the BLM decided to take over.

If you are a socialist, or believe that China has Americas best interest at heart you are entitled to your opinion, that's what makes this country great. The fact is, China would love to see us fail, they would love to own as much of our resources and technology as possible. They have their best interest in mind, America should do the same and keep them out of our resources and businesses. I personally would tariff all imported Chinese products to make their prices the same as American products, make it illegal for them to own American companies and real estate, and, I would tax American companies that moved our jobs to China so heavily they would have no choice but to move back. American companies moved to China for cheap labor so they could make more profits and line the pockets of Wall Street rulers, but that is a whole different story.

You know I understand peoplw want to make this about more and argument about if private cows can graze on public land for free but, that is all there is to it people. Trying come up Goverment plots with the Chinese sure makes it more exciting until you look at the fact thet project was stopped long before this while in the same state not anywhere near the ranch. Solar farms are best suited to desert locations, the complete opposite of where you would wants cows to graze. So let us just stop with all this crap trying to turn this into something it is not. The debate should be does this guy have some kind special rights that the rest of do not? Why does he get to break the law? And what action should Gov take to stop him?

The allow mining which pollutes beyond measure. This I think though says it all.

BLM has also tried to argue that the rules have changed, long after Bundy claims he secured rights and paid his dues to Clark County, Nevada. BLM says they supersede whatever agreement Bundy had prior; they demanded that he reduce his living, his thousand-some-odd head of cattle down to a tiny herd of 150. It’s easy for the government to grant itself powers of overreach, but it doesn’t make it right. Many bad things are done in the name of unjust laws. -

Those who say Bundy is a “deadbeat” are making inaccurate claims. Bundy has in fact paid fees to Clark County, Nevada in an arrangement pre-dating the BLM. The BLM arrived much later, changed the details of the setup without consulting with Bundy — or any other rancher — and then began systematically driving out cattle and ranchers. Bundy refused to pay BLM, especially after they demanded he reduce his heard’s head count down to a level that would not sustain his ranch. Bundy OWNS the water and forage rights to this land. He paid for these rights. He built fences, established water ways, and constructed roads with his own money, with the approval of Nevada and BLM. - See more at: danaloeschradio.com...

Right...no one would buy the power, so no need to build a power plant. That part was established last June. It has nothing to do with cattle grazing on public lands, which has been the issue with Cliven Bundy since the early 1990's.

The whole cattle issue has nothing to do with Harry Reid and everything to do with Cliven Bundy not paying his lease. There's no big conspiracy here, it's pretty cut and dry.

Clark county bought up all the grazing rights from the federal government and retired them.

Can't be to bad if they will install the suicide nets I would take the job.

When they bought the small tech company outside our town, it manufactures specialty small electronic parts of some kind...they said they would be enlarging it and bringing all their workers from China as part of the deal they bought land for housing their own people.

I don't know what happened with it I have no kept track but I assume they did as they had planned because no jobs were offered here.

You are confusing Clark County with the entire state.

Of course there's hundreds of cattle ranches in the state.

But Bundy's is the only one left in Clark County.

I searched for others but found none in the County.

I would love to be wrong about this.

here's another interesting story...

A Rancher’s Defiance

Cliven Bundy is the 67-year-old rancher at the center of this controversy. He says that his family has been cattle ranching in the 600,000-acre Gold Butte area since the 1877.

“I have raised cattle on that land, which is public land for the people of Clark County, all my life,” he explained. Of course, the federal government’s idea of “public land” is somewhat different than Bundy’s ancestors knew. Today, the feds consider the rancher to be an outlaw, and his grazing cattle are deemed “trespass cattle.”

Bundy says that the federal government has grown increasingly restrictive and has eliminated all the other ranchers from the region.

The Bundy Ranch is the last existing cattle ranch in Clark County.

Feds besiege rancher over land dispute, confiscate his cattle herd
