I noticed that as well but assumed that my mind was simply forcing the apparent correlation. It does seem, though, that certain areas of the Moon either attract inbound objects or (if one wants to really strain incredulity) are targeted by them.
If nothing else it would make for an interesting story!

I was thinking that maybe it looks like there are more maria impacts because they're easier to spot in the relatively darker areas than those hitting areas with a higher albedo.
