They really do believe we're stupid.

Yes they do! And they would be correct. They full well know that no offense is possible against that kind of money, resources, government support, media control etc. Most people are't ever aware of where food comes from....all they know is "the store"
Couple that with paid social media manipulations, mind control via the www. In a way it's a brilliant strategy; diabolical but brillinant.
Think we can change anything by changing the people in DC? I don't...

We can try. Maybe by first not falling for the people controlled by the likes of the Kochs, the Tea Party co-opters.

Sorry. Had to come back to say just this: Pompeo = Tea Party

Meet Mike Pompeo: The Congressional Candidate Spawned By The ‘Kochtopus’

(This is a serious issue on a few levels, but I think I only posted that link because 'Kochtopus' made me laugh.)

Meet George Soros

How is this on topic?'

The topic here is Pompeo and Koch. Not bloody Soros, Gates, or Obama.

No sympathy here.

If you believe I am partisan, you're out of your flipping mind. Can ou NOT stay on topic? Stuff your agenda where the sun don't shine, please.

Great point! Also how about a person taking responsibility for themselves? I find plenty of non-gmo food to eat. Got my garden, got my livestock and regularly visit the stores that sell non-gmo products.

I have stated many times in the past that the owners of large businesses who make their money off of the public, usually extremely wealthy people, have no moral conscience or ideals. They are out to take advantage of people for profit, plain and simple. They have no qualms about hurting people, and the only thing they concern themselves with in that regard is whether they can get away with it.

Let's ask ourselves why it would be worth fighting to keep an ingredients list off of your product. The only reason I can come up with is that they don't want people to see what would be on that list. And that alone should be troubling to everyone. And what is even scarier is the fact that these types of organizations have allies in the government. Often times these allies are the same people the WE elected to serve US, yet they put on a smiling face and tell us that is what they're doing, while behind closed doors they are conspiring with the thugs of companies like Monsanto to screw us over, and even damage our health as well.

These types of things should be criminal. Such people need to be held accountable in one way or another, but how can we hold them accountable when they basically have more of a hand in running things than we, the people, do? I have long believed that something needs to occur to break up this relationship between businesses, money, and the government/politicians, because no good can come out of it for the people. Nine times out of ten things will end badly for us. The FDA itself has proven, through their actions, that they too are controlled by these large corporations. I use the word control because the FDA seemingly does whatever would benefit the company, at the expense of the citizenry.

There needs to be stricter government oversight of these businesses, stricter laws as well, while at the same time creating other new laws to prevent politicians from engaging in any kind of relationship with such people. It could be done, but the politicians are the ones who make the laws, so are they going to discipline themselves? That is like saying that Congress would not vote to give itself a raise. If it has ever happened, such a thing is a rarity.

Campaign reform to the point of no donations, ie no corporate sponsors for either side as both R's & D's are bought and paid for politicians under our current political system.

I hate the fact that union dues are being used to finance the Dems! Grrr that money should benefit the workers that earn it!

Don't get your conclusion - so these companies & government colluding want to kill you and the solution is more government?

Here's a solution - don't buy their crap food and they go out of business - unless the government bails them out...

Pompeo will offer the bill in the US House before Congress leaves for Easter recess later this month, according to The Hill newspaper and Politico. The bill includes a "prohibition against mandatory labeling," catering to the needs of powerful interest groups that have already declared war against such "right to know" labeling laws in the US.

Aside from the Koch brothers and Monsanto which other powerful interest groups are also in play

Well after reading the article at www.organicconsumers.org...

FINLAND, Minn. – The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) today called on its million-plus network of consumers to help stop Rep. Mike Pompeo from co-sponsoring a bill, written by the junk food industry, that would preempt state and federal laws mandating the labeling of genetically modified organisms in food.

And from the article at www.farms.com...

The bill will reportedly be backed by a coalition of industry groups including the Grocery Manufactures Association. Interestingly, the legislation will include language which includes “probation against mandatory labeling.”

At face value I believe that these other two organizations, not mentioned directly but linked to in the OP, are acting as front line pawns in the War On Consumer Information and Education, possibly in the service of the Koch brothers and or Monsanto and I will try, and I hope my fellow members will also try, to find any direct links between all four organizations!

Maybe we need to look at this organization more closely also

Well maybe the ...

You forgot to mention The FDA approves unhealthy foods because they create disease ie cancers which adds money to big pharma's pockets and they in turn provide funding for the FDA.

What corruption?

I absolutely agree that is the even wider picture and it is pretty damning that the food and medical/pharma industry seems to be set up to make people sick and constantly hungry for GMO junk food/GMO fast food.

What is poisoning that entire situation is corporate greed!

The solution is to go back to farming on a couple of acres of land to be sustainable and not pollute and pandemically poison each other, by being in close proximity as people are today in the cities, where an airborne lethal virus, possibly like the new ebola strain, can wreak havok!

People need to take control of their food supply back to be able to survive in a world that will fight to the death over access to fresh water and fresh food.
