So in a free society the mega corps are free to sell anything as food, yet the citizens are not free to choose whether or not they eat GMO foods. Welcome to the new USA where you buy politicians and freedoms.

Pompeo will offer the bill in the US House before Congress leaves for Easter recess later this month, according to The Hill newspaper and Politico. The bill includes a "prohibition against mandatory labeling," catering to the needs of powerful interest groups that have already declared war against such "right to know" labeling laws in the US.

Pompeo, a Republican from Kansas, has numerous ties to Charles and David Koch, heads of the formidable multinational corporation Koch Industries. He founded Thayer Aerospace (now known as Nex-Tech Aerospace) with investment funds from Koch Industries, and later was named president of Sentry International, an oilfield equipment company that partners with Koch Industries. His initial run for Congress in 2010 was also bankrolled by Koch brothers. Once in the House, the congressman introduced bills sympathetic to Koch Industries, says The Washington Post. "GMA’s selection of Congressman Pompeo as their champion shows how extreme the proposal really is," said Colin O’Neil, director of government affairs for the Center for Food Safety. "Selecting Pompeo creates an unholy alliance between Monsanto and Koch Industries, two of the most reviled corporations in America."

We have a right to know where our food comes from and what we are putting into our bodies.

This is just ridiculous and makes me even more suspicious of just how bad it's really gotten that they feel a need to hide if from us even more. They know that if we knew there would be serious consequences to pay.

I'd betcha the idiot Koch brothers probably don't even touch the stuff.

ETA: On the bright side, this probably won't pass on its wording alone. Prohibit? Ha.

Yeah...but Soros...
And Obamacare...and..and...

I think a lot of people whom are anti-government and pro-corporation are truly not understanding just how ruthless corporations are to the eaters (consumers, or as they say in the civilized world, Citizens). I think the more we remove the safeguards we the people tried to set up, the more the true nature of our beloved brands will show their true nature...well, until the corporate owned media stops reporting all together.

Thank god for the internet.

Well isn't that wonderful?
Special Interests protecting their interests
at the expense of their fellow man.

I'm growing tired of these sociopaths.

Erm, this is patriotism
The corporate people celebrate the fine work of the Koch Bros as usual.

This is how the U$A is now.
There are two types of citizens here
The socialists and the corporate people (my friend)
Choose a side...knowing that it actually doesn't matter which side you choose, because the peoples will (corporate people, not actual blood and bone people) will always come first over the nasty smelly socialist eaters.

Oh My God. your source is voiceofrussia.com... ! I mean really. Just unreal.

Because Gates, Soros and Buffet, who BTW are at the top of the list of Billionaires in the USA, don't own and control corporations and it is well known that they are not active politically. lol

This is a common strategy of the Left and it only works on the unthinking.

According to the leftists peddling this nonsense the Koch brothers are the only billionaires in the political manipulation game and they'd like you to believe the democrats don't have anybody with the kind of money or influence the Koch brothers have.

Those who spin this obvious lie are either completely ignorant of the facts and really, truly don't know any better or they're willfully ignorant of the facts and are lying to you.

And its source is in the USA too!! The Topeka Capital Journal

Republicans Introduce Koch-Funded, Monsanto-Backed Bill to Establish Voluntary GMO Food Labeling

Pompeo: Industry's GMO Labeling Champion -- Politico Pro
Posted April 1st, 2014
View Original Article
(Article Summarized by Meridian Institute) Representative Mike Pompeo (R-KS) will help the food industry beat back state attempts at mandatory labeling of foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Pompeo has said he will introduce a labeling bill backed by the Grocery Manufacturers Association and dozens of food groups sometime in the next two weeks. A draft version of the legislation indicates that it would create a federal voluntary labeling system for genetically modified foods and increase the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s regulatory oversight of GMOs. The aim of the bill is to create friendlier federal rules to quell public concerns over GMOs, and stem the roughly 20 pending state bills and ballot initiatives that would be costly for industry to fight. The question now is whether the legislation will go anywhere. The Coalition for Safe and Affordable Food, which is pushing the legislation, has yet to sign on any lawmakers other than Pompeo, and there is not yet a companion bill in the Senate. Claire Parker, a spokesperson for the coalition, said, “We continue to work with a broad group of members of Congress. We’re encouraged with the progress we’re making on legislation to protect consumers and avoid a costly and confusing 50-state patchwork of labeling regimes.” Once the legislation is introduced, the GMA will lead a public relations effort, run by the PR firm Weber Merritt, to help groups engage their member companies and build support. The goal is to hold a hearing on the bill either this summer or in the fall.

Why can't I find any sign of this bill?

Why is everyone saying the bill says such and such, yet doesn't link to it?

I define patriotism as support of the founding values and the founding Constitution as construed by the founding fathers . . . etc. etc. etc.

more or less the opposite of globalism.

Using sources that parrot each other doesn't confirm this.

We need the bill.
