I have never even made a thread and seldomly reply and have been reading ATS for like 6 years haha. That's how compelled I was to show this video to every one when I saw that the hit really seemed so random. Even if something happened behind the scenes there is no way it could warrant this response. There seemed to be nothing going on in that direction no one was looking that way so she seemed to be just walking along checking her phone.

The comment section on youtube also says someone had friends there and it was going smoothly besides the cops trying to rile the crowd up.

What is truly disturbing is that vids/proof of this type of violence and illegal trespassing of our rights as human beings/ citizens is garnering less and less response and outrage against our oppressors.

We are losing because of the planned desensitization using multiple instances of same. We can't even keep up to it anymore.

So in essence, they are actually winning because we are giving up...Crimea anyone? How about a lost jet? Maybe a new find amongst the Pharaohs? How about a pink planet?

Whatever is coming is well deserved because of stupidity.

Peace

Skimming through an article on this I came across a quote from Tucson police Sgt. Pete Dugan.

"We've been training for this event for several months now," Dugan said. "It got a little rowdy and it got a little violent, but no businesses suffered any damage." Read more here: www.thestate.com...=cpy

As long as the businesses are okay I guess mowing over a few helpless people here and there is okay?
They had several months training for this? They were conditioned for this one night.

It actually looked like something happened on the other side of the police line, you see/hear the crowd cheer and at the same time the girl and a few others move forward a bit... looks to me like the cop anticipated something coming from behind and reacted before he saw that nothing was threatening. Brutal hit. That vid. will get picked up by local news, I hope.

What in gods name is happening to the police??! I'm glad all my encounters with the police have been with the friendly ones who don't abuse their powers.

That goon needs to go to jail and face some big bad bubbas to learn a serious lesson in civility. I sincerely hope those kids got his badge number and do what they need to do. Perhaps we could all email a copy of the video to the PD?

Edit to add: Their web site has a link to the mayor's office. I've sent the mayor a link to the video since I didn't find an email for the chief of police on the site.

and the cop in this vid clearly missed the part in training when they were told to use excessive force only in situations where they were not being recorded

Man, this kind of thing makes me so angry. I am glad I was not present, I would be in jail, in the hospital, or dead. No way I could stand by and do nothing for that. Maybe it's time for groups of concerned citizens to track these animals to their dens and make sure they end up parapalegics.

No context needed. We all know that cops in the US these days are nothing more than Nazi bullies. Shoot, hit, Taser, beat, sexually assault, write false reports and kill first, then do their jobs second. Pretty scary out there. Used to be a time when you could count on the police to protect you from criminals. Now we have to protect ourselves from cops? when did things change?

Wow if that scumbag is not charged with assault then how can any citizen have any kind of faith in the legal system. I really think police are trained to be this way there is no other explanation and they must only hire psychopaths these days?

Makes me sick to watch. Almost impossible to defend from. These guys are above the law. They have a "code".....
If I saw it I probably would have exploded! And I do happen to be 6' and 200lbs.. Mother suckers! Makes me so angry.

On the other hand its such a dangerous situation. I always try to avoid this stuff. Knowing that if I see it, I will react leading to jail.... Look at all the cops hanging around there.

This video just changed my mind regarding allowing students to carry arms on campus. Now I am all for it. Everyone should be carrying weapons when they are out and might be attacked by cops.

This happened a few blocks from my house and was par for the course that night. Stupid, drunk kids and 'stupider' drunk- on- power thugs with riot gear and a mission to break skulls.

That cop is disgusting and I hope they got his badge number... the whole stupid night was a low point... kids rioting over a basketball game and cops using excessive force, playing soldier and making it so much worse.

The police had helicopters and riot troops out all night, like they were gleeful to have free reign and play with their military toys. The "riots" would've stopped after 20 minutes if the police had shown restraint.

The thing is the rioting should be over gov abuses, inequality and constitutional infringement like that girl getting attacked... not basketball.

But that was so out of line... stupid, thuggish pig.

I hope he's identified and prosecuted for assault and abuse of authority.

To be sure, there are fine people on the force... that guy is not one of them.

The video starts with what looks like the same dikhed cop picking himself up off the ground. The video then pans over and catches the girl getting leveled. I think this cop was pissed off because he either tripped or was knocked down and he then took out his revenge on this girl who looked to be moving towards another ruckus on the other side of the riot line. He justified the hit internally because of his rage and a sense of protecting the rear of the police line. He overreacted, big time.

That was totally horriffic. It's too bad the cameraman is inept though. Why people think it's ok to take widescreen video with the camera sideways is completely beyond me. Who cares what the tops of the trees look like?
