The dark shadow of my soul

I am now gazing into the Abyss
Nothing stares back or am I remiss?

This shadow has been cast over me
A cage from which I cannot see

Into the pit I have fallen complete
nails ragged, torn from climbing in defeat

I want to give up and drink the poisoned wine
Tired of throwing my peals before swine

Can I not rise and converge
defeating this self-loathing urge?

Must struggle to pull myself from this infliction
and immerse my being into its new fiction!

I shall not be defeated each daylight anew
my soul will learn, and heart grow true!

Reborn in flames from the darkness within
I shall burn brighter, fly higher, shed my skin!

My shadow prison now firmly ripped free
No failing to learn the keys were inside of me!
