The author Hal Lindsey notes a reported conversation between Israeli PM Golda Meir and top general Moshe Dayan. At the height of the 1973 war and the Arab forces were poised to overrun Israel, the PM and general had agreed to"Arm the doomsday weapon".The Israelis managed to rally and beat back the Arab forces so,luckily we didn't find out the truth of this report.

Israel likely tested an atomic bomb, along with Apartheid South Africa, in 1979 off the coast of Madagascar. It was common knowledge that Israel and SA were partners in nuclear development activities. SA provided the Uranium and Israel primarily provided the technology. It is known for a fact that the Apartheid SA government dismantled several (three or more?) atomic bombs and gave the gear to western nuclear countries before the white minority government gave up power. This is rather convincing circumstantial evidence that Israel also has atomic bombs.

Try reading about Mordechai Vanunu, who worked in the Israeli nuclear program and was a whistleblower regarding Israel's nuclear program. Israel threw him in prison for about a decade after having kidnapped him from Italy.

Try reading The Samson Option: Israel's Nuclear Arsenal and American Foreign Policy" (1991) by Seymour Hersh.

Read up on the Israeli Dimona nuclear facility, the extreme security around it and the environmental problems from it.

Maybe there's a reason why Israel never signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, you think???

Then write a real thread about Israel's nuclear weapons, rather than this specious one.

No need to test your warheads to make sure they work... when you can get your best buddies to do it for you.

Thereby, allowing you to keep "not-signing-that-NPT-agreement" by way of *cough* not officially having any *cough*.

... It pays to have friends in high places.

The Israelis detonated their first atomic bomb September 22nd, 1979, near the Bouvet Islands after a secret political deal was struck with the Norwegian Government at the time. The secret agreement allowed Israel to test a single nuclear device on a barge near one of the Bouvet Islands wich is owned by the Norwegians to this very day. In the conspiracy circles this nuclear detonation is documented as The Vela Incident.

"During his 2006 confirmation hearings before the United States Senate regarding his appointment as George W. Bush's Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates admitted that Israel had nuclear weapons."

Wikipedia Sampson Option

There's alot more in that wiki article.

I suspect the reason that America is so doggedly behind Israel has less to do with all the dual-citizen American-Israeli politicians in Washington, than the fact that if we didn't keep constant tabs on Israel, they would nuke most of the Middle East at the first sign that they were losing Israel.

It always sickened me to watch Israel doing an attack, watching their missles on tv screens, and other high-tech military gear, while the people they're attacking only have the basic things(AK-47/RPG). The American gov is so out of line with most everything they've done, especially with "our *friends* in Israel".

They have used DU in rockets sent to blow up school children.

DU is a by-product of spent nuclear fuel?

arbitration?

If they admit to having them and they did enrich enough plutonium in there weapons grade reactor back after the four day war, is that acknowledgment means that under international mandate they have to then comply with international mandate which would not be suitable to there position, remember they are surrounded on all land borders by hostile nations and nearly lost the four day war except for there superior intelligence as logistically they should never have won but did, this was too close and for a generation whom still had the atrocity's of the second world war as well as generations of religious persecution, whom just wanted to feel safe in there bed's at night?, they most certainly have got the atomic bomb but will they ever use it, if there backs are to the wall and they have lost then YES they will use it.

if they are backed into a corner, and losing a war where they look like they will be overrun they have what is called the Samson Option which basically states they would launch their nukes in every direction to take down everyone with them. en.wikipedia.org...

Yes, and that SHOULD be talked about more but it isn't. That is a nuclear threat of the highest order against all mankind. That's way crazier than anything that Iran, NK or Iraq said. That should cause the world to rush in and confiscate Israel's illegal nuclear arsenal and the people who helped them get them, or gave to them, should all be arrested and put before a firing squad. So it's ok for Israel to keep their finger on the button, and if they see that they're gonna be stripped of power, they will act like cowards and take the whole world down with them? Yeah....that isn't childish or selfish.

Both 3-Mile Island (Partial melt) & Chernobyl were melt downs of the core. No thermonuclear explosion took place at either site so they were no weapons tests. I suspect the Israeli's are using tried & (previously) tested designs & any anomalies can be tested via computer modelling. Judging by the amount of Jewish scientists involved from the beginning in Nuclear science & weapons it is V. hard to believe that Israel doesn't have Nukes & while real-world testing would be ideal, i don't think it's such a necessity nowadays.

Not when your models are identical to some one else model and they have done the testing for you.

Iranians as martyrs??? if they nuked Israel over 75% of the Palestinians in the west bank and Gaza would be the victims. They have few nuke grade shelters and the radiation would blow over them.
Israel has nuke grade shelters for there people. They also have a anti missile system. Iron Dome, Arrow 3 and the Stunner missile system part of the David's Sling missile defense system. They also have the US Patriot system. THEY WOULD SURVIVE HURT BUT SURVIVE..
www.defensenews.com...

Who are the Palestinians going to blame if a Iranian nuke lands on there cities and the radiation cooks them downwind.

Could Iran survive attacking Israel NO

Would anyone help Iran after they attacked Israel, Few would give them any help and it would be at a steep price. Some would invade Iran just to pick up the pieces.

Does Israel have EMP weapons i believe they do and that means Iran would be a stone age country after attacking Israel.

End game we would be rid of Iran and and the Palestinians. good riddance. Syria would likely take a few hits also taking out there leaders and leaving the rebels in Syria in control.

We send 3.1 BILLION US Tax $$ to 7 million Jews in Israel, so why are they letting their own kids starve???

Ahh, I know, spending it all on weapons and nukes.

Let us not forget the attempted / realised sale of nuclear weapons to south Africa, one of which, I believe, was detonated in a test. Those were the ones Dr. David Kelly was dispatched to check for transportation safety, which subsequently "went missing".

I don't think there is any doubt that Israel has a sizable nuclear arsenal, given the amount of material and documents given and stolen from the US.

That's a couple BIG BIG points I've read history very differerntly for. As I've read the chronology, Israel and South Africa were in a cooperative effort for development as much as anything else, with a test shot of mutual benefit that was captured by chance across satellites looking the right way at the right moment.

Also, the US did nothing...absolutely NOTHING...to help Israel develop nuclear weapons. Think back a moment to who was President when Dimona was coming online and just starting to go active as a production and not mere research facility. Seeing Israel go nuclear did nothing to help the US and literally took almost all options for the region from that point on.

That lapse in control and judgement of what an 'ally' was up to has cost our nation roughly $2 Billion in "please please don't kill each other" money paid to Egypt and Israel in a split since 1979 or so.

If someone has something other than rumor, conjecture and wild 2nd or 3rd party report of a maybe to the contrary, I'd be very interested to read it, as I've looked. Honestly, I have looked...but the record by history doesn't seem to support the US support idea at all. However sexy it seems to be for some to imagine, anyway.

If it were all above board and nothing to see, why do they still refuse to allow IAEA inspectors anywhere Dimona or other places? Compared to Israel, Iran has been massively open in it's allowed inspections.

Who says they have to test it in Israel? It's easy enough to test it elsewhere. LIke, at sea.

Actually they tested it in apartheid South Africa. Satellites picked up a double flash from a test when they were trying to sell them and got caught.

There is a theory that a 'nuclear flash' seen over the southern ocean by a satellite south of Cape town, was a joint test by South Africa and Israel, but no confirmation has ever been forthcoming.

Israel didn't join the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. Did you see Syria rolling red carpets out to welcome in every inspector who may have had a whim to peak? They didn't join the Chemical Weapons treaty.

The two DO matter to mention in the same way because just as 1 billion to Egypt and 1 Billion to Israel every year for over 3 decades has kept regional peace, SO has slime to the north for a counterbalance to nukes in the south. Israel and Syria checked each other as Israel and Egypt have, in different ways. The world at large has been quite happy to let sleeping dogs lay with ALL THREE nations, as long as open war and world peace threats weren't immediate and breaking.

That is why Israel and Syria both could make NBC class weapons for the whole world to know about, watch and all but count specific type and class with ...yet say little or nothing. Status Quo has trumped everything for 30+ years.

Now, in all honesty? Syria got de-slimed. It's time Israel step up and join the NPT like a mature nation, declare what there is to declare, like the rest of the Nuclear Club and move on with life.
