PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Law enforcement officials raided the office and home of House Speaker Gordon Fox on Friday as part of an investigation by the U.S. attorney's office, the FBI, IRS and state police.

It would appear as though Mr. Gordon Fox is in some deep doo doo...he's apparently had some ethical violations in the past..

TextIn January, Fox agreed to a settlement with the state ethics commission for failing to disclose he had done more than $40,000 in legal work for a Providence economic development agency. Fox acknowledged breaking a law that requires elected officials to annually report whether they received more than $250 in income from a government agency and agreed to pay a $1,500 civil fine.

Right, it's not like 38,500$ can buy much today anyway.

It's ridiculous what people with money can get away with.

Just the other day I say a post about the heir to dupont raping a kid. No jail time.

I saw another story about a lady who took some film in to get it developed at walmart, and had charges of child porn filed against her when walmart found a picture of her toddlers in a bathtub.

Now tell me... what the he'll is going in in this country where people with money can get away with fines or probation for doing literally anything. Kill someone? Have a million? OK, no problem, six months probation. By the way, I think I can make arrangements so you can go to the gun range every weekend like you enjoy.

Money doesn't make an individual a better person, in fact, the opposite could be argued. So why are people not enraged by this?

I live in Providence and I was just talking to my roommate about this as it went by on the local news. I didnt get why he got to remain in office from his first offense.

The person they brought in to ask all about it was even more ridiculous. Saying she would have hate to see him lose office over a mere $40,000 or something similar to that? It was only this little amount, not like it was millions. Thats suppose to be ok??? I just really dont get that.

A $5,000,000.00 crime should be just the same as a $5 dollar crime. You are a public servant, you committed a crime, no more office for you.

Sigh, then again, it is Rhode Island... very curious to find out what This is actually going to be all about, but guessing I wont be surprised
