I fully expect everything to fade black and absolutely nothing. I'd like to believe in heaven and hell, angels and reuniting with loved ones, but I can't. My logic brain tells me dead is dead. And when that happens... we just cease to exist. And with that, I guess there is nothing to fear but the process of no longer being relevant. I hope I'm wrong.edit on 15-3-2014 by simsumre because: (no reason given)

An interesting, popular theory.
Tell me what does ceasing to exist feel like? look like?
You say fade in to black, how is it black if you can't comprehend it? If we're truly "dead" then there is no black to us. There is nothing to understand, see, feel .. or anything!
It's a very difficult thing to think about, but i don't believe for comfort. I believe out of truth. Out of pure faith in something after this life. It's what it really is that baffles me.
I now see and feel that NDE and Astral Projection are related.

I would assume there is simply nothing. You won't have an opinion or feeling. You just won't exist. That last breath is it, it's done. And you won't really know or feel anything so at that point, I guess it doesn't even matter. I hope there is something after, but I honestly doubt it. Why are humans given something after but every other animal on the planet isn't? Maybe when they have real proof that a soul exists. Until then, I still fully expect to just fade away... when that day comes and like so many before me. As depressing as that sounds, it's probably the truth.

It is partly hallucination. Doesn't the brain release '___'
at the moment of death?
Also as soon as the brain stops receiving oxygen, it begins to die. I fear most people who are resucusitated aren't all there when they come back. You know, because of the brain damage.
