I fully expect everything to fade black and absolutely nothing. I'd like to believe in heaven and hell, angels and reuniting with loved ones, but I can't. My logic brain tells me dead is dead. And when that happens... we just cease to exist. And with that, I guess there is nothing to fear but the process of no longer being relevant. I hope I'm wrong.

Thank you for your story.

I've never had a NDE (thankfully) but have had a few people very close to me suddenly pass. And i'll tell you, i was a believer before they passed but now i'm CERTAIN there is more after this life.

My father passed 10 years ago when i was 12. My mother and her sister went to see him once he had been pronounced dead at the hospital he was rushed to. They both came out and said it was him, but it wasn't. He wasn't really "there" anymore. They said he actually looked different. And i think it's all down to one thing.

We connect with each other's souls. Once our soul (whatever it truly may be) leaves our body we are no longer the physical person. Our personality, our life.. our essence has moved on. It's gone from this "life" or "dimension" and on to another. When my mother saw my father after he had died, she said he was no longer there. He had gone.

My grandfather (mothers father) died 2 years later. We were all at the house where he was after we got the news and before the ambulance came. We live 2 minutes way... but it felt like he wasn't there. His body was... but it felt like he had literally gone. He wasn't there anymore.... nothing but his vehicle, his shell... now empty and moved on. Interestingly, before he passed he was staring at the wall/ceiling higher up than eye level. My grandma, who is still with us (thank god!) couldn't understand why he was so distant and transfixed. moments after, he'd gone. Who knows what he saw...

I of course loved both my father and grandfather very much... It's all a very sad cycle, as we grow so fond and attached to our loved ones. And not having them around anymore is the saddest part. But it's not their body's we need, it's their spirit, their soul and their personality. The things that made them, them. And they go, they really do. To where? Who knows. But this isn't "it".

An interesting, popular theory.

Tell me what does ceasing to exist feel like? look like?

You say fade in to black, how is it black if you can't comprehend it? If we're truly "dead" then there is no black to us. There is nothing to understand, see, feel .. or anything!

It's a very difficult thing to think about, but i don't believe for comfort. I believe out of truth. Out of pure faith in something after this life. It's what it really is that baffles me.

Thanks for sharing, can't imagine not being afraid of death at that age!

It changes your outlook on life, that's for sure. For me, being able to astral project is like getting to explore another frontier that hasn't been mapped; I can explore my (physical) world when awake, and explore the (astral) world when asleep. For me, it's better this way, as I'm able to maintain a balance between explorations.

Sometimes, I've noticed that people almost became "addicted" to astral projection - One thing to remember is that if you were supposed to be exploring the astral day in and out, you wouldn't be here physically. Keeping the balance is the best way to not have the physical or astral have a negative effect on you.

this is a quote from him, lol still learning how to work this

Also many people so I've read fear being 'attacked' by evil entities, however such things are really only a manifestation of their own fears, which they'd best work through and understand before they leave their bodies. But really there are Spiritual Laws protecting people such as yourself who have the OBE ability, and no real harm can actually come to you from another 'bad' spirit. Any harm would simply be self-imposed even though it might appear to come from a malevolent spirit.

I wish you all the best with your experiences.

It's so hard to watch loved ones pass away and the death is much more difficult for the family. Knowing they're out there is some form is comforting.

I can't remember the website but family members wrote about their loved ones last moments on earth. There were a few that were looking off like your grandfather. I like to think it's the ones they've been missing coming to welcome them to the afterlife.

It is like exploring! When I have a lucid dream that's usually what I do, go exploring the dream world, need to do that with the astral plane. I usually try to go somewhere to get confirmation it's real, even though I know it is.

Can see how it could become addicting, glad I can't do it at will. (It only happens with SP)

I just would like to say thank you to all of you for sharing your experiences with these altered states of consciousness. I have been aware for a long time of the possibility of developing these abilities and it is refreshing to hear of others experiences. It truly is a fascinating game that we are playing here in the physical world. I believe those who have gained the ability to free themselves from the physical are the pioneers into the new powers that are inert in our being! So thank you, I have experienced sleep paralysis only a few times and due my not being prepared for it I percieved it as one of the most terrifying experiences of my life which is laughable in retrospect. Fear is one of our greatest teachers and to overcome it is take a significant step towards mastering our greater abilities!

If possible could any of you share some simple exercises to practice before sleeping to help develop lucid dreams/astral projection. Thank you in advance your wisdom is much appreciated!

Namaste and Blessings

I would assume there is simply nothing. You won't have an opinion or feeling. You just won't exist. That last breath is it, it's done. And you won't really know or feel anything so at that point, I guess it doesn't even matter. I hope there is something after, but I honestly doubt it. Why are humans given something after but every other animal on the planet isn't? Maybe when they have real proof that a soul exists. Until then, I still fully expect to just fade away... when that day comes and like so many before me. As depressing as that sounds, it's probably the truth.

I have had oobe/astral projection induced by myself and also a NDE when a quarter tonne weight fell on my head.

The guy with the answers you are looking for is Rich2150x on YouTube. He has lots of great videos on oobe and astral and entities etc.

Congratulations by the way!

P.s. Every single one of us APs every night to other dimensions, but TPTB have us believe they're just dreams.

I now see and feel that NDE and Astral Projection are related.

There is definitely a connection between NDEs and out of body experiences.

For many a year now, I have been able to induce LDs/OBEs pretty easily.

The one thing I've always wondered about is the crackling noise and the vibration. I still don't understand why there is always vibration then the tinnitus, but I find it interesting that almost everyone who experiences NDEs, OBEs/AP/LDs, psychedelics, reports hearing the crackling.

I wish I knew why.

Bruce Moen, who is a graduate of The Monroe Institute, has written a number of books on what he calls afterlife exploration (hard to believe I know).
  1. Voyages into the Unknown
  2. Voyages Beyond Doubt
  3. Voyages into the Afterlife
  4. Voyage to Curiosity's Father
  5. Afterlife Knowledge Guidebook
  6. and a whole lot more here
He claims Focus 25, better known as "The Park," is a sort of weigh station for disincarnate intelligences. I have never seen focus 25+ or beyond. Hell I can barely leave my house when I am "out of body," but I can definitely confirm there is something to all of this.

I just wish I knew what (all in the head or something real?)!

Anyhow, if you ever want to try to do a group LD/OBE. Maybe we can try to rebuild interest in the the unofficial ATS OBE party thread.

Thanks for sharing your story.

Best,
-Xt

It does sound depressing.. and to me, SO far from what i believe. And it's kinda sad to see another person feeling this way. I guess it makes me more grateful in my faith. And please, i'm not trying to say you're wrong or trying to patronise you.

The animal point was interesting. I don't know about you, but i don't think we're the only "beings" that have a spirit, a soul, a.. something! Who knows what else does. But to believe it's only humans might be quite silly. But who knows? What if it is? We're an extremely bizarre species... maybe there's more to us than meets the eye. - Your comment about this did baffle me a bit though, i have to say.

I always see it this way. I can't comprehend death because we have to be conscious to experience what ever it is. People ALWAYS say blackness, nothingness, empty etc etc. If there's nothing.. try understand nothing... in your head. Nothing is... black? empty? You need to be conscious to understand/feel/see these concepts. That baffles me. And only strengthens my belief... but it in no way created it. It goes a lot deeper than that

Who knows, ey?

It is partly hallucination. Doesn't the brain release '___'
at the moment of death?
Also as soon as the brain stops receiving oxygen, it begins to die. I fear most people who are resucusitated aren't all there when they come back. You know, because of the brain damage.

no, it is not a hallucination. neither is it an effect of N2O ( or ketamine, for that matter) or dimethyltryptamine release. Neither of those will produce a UNIFORMITY of the experiences which are considered NDEs.

NDE experience can happen when you are really dead but also when you are not yet dead. European research on NDE considers only those experiences which happen with an asystole or sustained Vtach. American ones usually consider everything else as well.

Totally understand your point of view on fading to black, thats what I though prior to my NDE experience and the OBE/AP that followed. It has really changed my perspective on what happens after death, and has shown me there is way more to this world and our lives than just what we can see when awake. I am a much more spiritual person now, not religious.

It really does appear that the 2 are related, along with lucid dreaming. I am a lucid dreamer, have had numerous Out of Bodies and 2 Near Death Experiences. My belief is its related to our third eye, pineal gland. I know its said everyone can experience out of body, but for some people it seems to come much easier.

Wonder if the calcification of the pineal gland has an effect on the ability for this to occur.

Nice connections here, great thread my friend

My belief is that we originate from the dream/OBE/NDE/astral state. We have mastered that density of consciousness and have chosen to incarnate in a physical reality which we are now learning to master. Nothing in our physical reality exists without being a thought first. Our souls exist first and our physical bodies are molded after them. same goes for trees, animals, planets, everything. They all exist as a thought inside the massive god head. Our bodies are 99.9 % empty space. That empty space is our conscious holding together the atoms of our reality.

It's definitely related to the third eye/pineal gland, it's too bad more research hasn't been done on that tiny gland.
We know very little about it other than, it regulates the sleep cycle (releases melatonin and tryptophan) and seasonal functions. It possibly aids in inducing the actions of certain drugs.
It's been called "the seat to the soul" and I'm inclined to believe that.

Interesting post, It's good to see how you compare NDE with OBE/AP. I am interested in learning how to astral project. I have lost many dear to me and I am searching for some sort of answers that will help me understand that there is something else after our existence here on earth.
I'm not here to not believe in all of this only to hope what you and others say is true.

Sorry for your loss..dealing with the death of a loved one is so difficult, I lost 2 of my grandparents with in the last year.

From my Near Death Experience and the following OBE's I have a firm belief that there is something after death, our consciousness carries on.

Hope you find the answers you're looking for. If you have any questions about OBE/AP feel free to PM me, I'm happy to share my methods with you
