Here, allow me:

... it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." ---- Hermann Goering

Now, does that remind anybody of anything?

That reminded me of what happened after 9/11 and continues to this day.

And god help the Dixie Chicks of the nation.

I don't see an issue using the term "Nazi". It is a comparison of things that have happened in the past (history) is it not? How can we learn from our mistakes as human beings, if we bury the past?

Pulling the Nazi card ... or pulling the Hitler card ... are VERY serious. If someone pulls it, then it had better be a very serious situation and they'd better be very sure of the information. Yelling 'Nazi' or 'Hitler' is like yelling 'FIRE!' in a crowded theatre ...

At least that's the construct I have of it all ...

The claims being made here are almost comical. I wonder where all the outrage was when the liberals were putting Hitler mustaches on Bush. How duplicitous.

How is it serious if it is an accurate comparison?

What I find more serious are those whom are in denial of the fact things are getting that close to even make the comparison!

If you think it is an accurate comparison then you know as much about Nazi Germany as Carson. And that is you know nothing. Carson is just loudmouth homophobe that likes to see his name in print. He is the perfect example of a stupid smart person.

Goring was talking about the nature of governance. The flavor doesn't matter. What we focus on all too often is what the Romans called "bread and circuses." Yes, it sounded to me as well that Goring was aptly discussing post-9/11 America, Bush/Obama/WhoeverComesNext ...

Why in the WORLD does it ALWAYS have to be reduced to Liberals versus Conservatives or Democrats and Republicans?

When are we going to see past that garbage and look at the facts?

Yeah.

And that reminds me of the kid in the school-yard being called a name by someone and whining in retort ...

"I know you are but what am I?"

Two wrongs don't make a right, but apparently, they do make a right-wing. LOL

(That's a joke.)

(Mostly.)

Come again?

Who is "sanctioning" what?

Who are "They" in your comment?

How does "Hillary vs. Putin" apply?

Nah, it's not really. It's just an attention grabber. Like calling Obama "Little Caesar."

People get too worked up over the word. It's the thought that counts.

Stasi Stasi Stasi Stasi, that's where we're at now. Maybe Carson just gets all the Euro dictator stuff mixed up.

From your article:

"She [Clinton] compared issuing Russian passports to Ukrainians with ties to Russia with early actions by Nazi Germany before Hitler began invading neighboring countries," Saltzgaver told BuzzFeed. "She said, however, that while that makes people nervous, there is no indication that Putin is as irrational as the instigator of World War II."

So, good try ... doesn't even remotely touch what I'm addressing in the comment you responded to, but is in fact, merely more of same. I'm sure you think it's a dig at Clinton somehow.

Here's the question ... why bring up Clinton so obliquely? Just the word "Nazi"?

How do her comments vis-a-vis Putin's actions relate to the thread at large, or to my comments?

Is it enough to try to ridicule a Democrat?

If it is the latter, then I'll say it again; we need to get over the silliness.

Quickly.

Are you suggesting that our current situation (via NSA et. al.) is comparable to East Germany's Secret Police?

How? In what ways is what I'm asking? Merely symbolically or philosophically? Are we at the early stages?

Honest questions.

Similar yes, comparable no. The US is now light years ahead of the Stasi when it comes to intelligence gathering on it's own citizens, in it's surveillance networks of innocent people and it's psychological warfare against any and all they consider a "threat."

I believe that they are the same philosophically. We can only hope (I do anyway) that it meets the same fate as the Stasi did.

Remember, "If you see something, Say something."

The Stasi was also a big fan of informants and using people against each other.

Thanks for your response. I hope you're wrong.

Although, given the high levels of incitement and division that are achieved and the absolute ideological HATRED I can see in some for other people, fellow citizens they don't even know, that's a waiting pool of snitches, for sure, if they're needed.

Or, as the case may be, celebrants at a witch-trial.

/sigh

This is just Ben Carson throwing out a piece of red meat to the Conservative fringe that will eat anything up, and at the same time giving Republicans the opportunity to claim that they're really in touch with minorities. But there's no way in hell the GOP does not nominate an old christian white guy in 2016.

But congrats to the GOP it looks like they found their replacement for Allen West as the mandatory crazy black guy

You mean as opposed to this guy?

Bad Mood

Good Mood

Barack's Backup

So you think what Carson said has no merit and he's just stirring the pot? Is that correct?

You left out this part

"Now if this sounds familiar, it's what Hitler did back in the '30s," Clinton said Tuesday

Hillary Clinton makes a direct comparison - Putin to Hitler.

Now compare her statements to what Ben Carson actually said
not some News Headline title!

"There comes a time when people with values simply have to stand up. Think about Nazi Germany," he said. "Most of those people did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But did they speak up? Did they stand up for what they believe in? They did not, and you saw what happened."

www.huffingtonpost.com...

Now, who needs to get over what???

And do pray tell, what is so wrong with standing up for ones values?

This is not a Democrat - Republican issue, why are you trying to frame it that way?

I like the good Doctor...

But Nazi Germany?

That's kind of a stretch....

I agree but...we are headed down that road to Nazi Germany and Soviet Era Russia. Now would be the time to stop it.
