It's usually around this time of the year that I begin to reflect on the events that have touched my life. And as I reflected on the past months,
I realized that the year 2005 was not kind to humanity at all. It started with the December 26th, Tsunami in Asia. Never in my life had I ever
witnessed a more terrible and devastating disaster. Ringing in the New Year while sick in bed and with very little fanfare, I did not look forward to
2006 and rightfully so I now believe.
Earthquakes, Hurricanes, War, Disease, Famine, and Poverty were the hallmarks of 2006. Throughout the world, humanity suffered greatly and many
lives were lost and changed. Every month left us with one disaster or another, natural and man made. Having my own life disrupted by two hurricanes
and various personal issues, there were days that I wondered "Will this ever get better and How can I go on". But as each day passed, the situation
changed and while it may have seemed to me that life was never going to get better, it did. Many people all around the world may have questioned
themselves following their own disasters, just as I did, and like me, those people are surviving, moving on and reflecting. So now as we prepare to
start another year, which will no doubt bring us more disasters and tribulations for humanity, I ask that you take the time to reflect on your life
and realize just how fortunate you are. Realizing and knowing, "that no matter how bad you think you may have it, there is always someone in the
world in a situation much worse than yours", can really put life's little problems in perspective.
So when you're having one of "those days" in the future year, remember the happy times and let love, light and hope guide you through and next
December, you'll be reflecting about it all again. Believe. Love. Dream. Hope.
