ATS Weekly: Front Office
Soon, the "digeratti" will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Netscape Initial Public Offering on Wall Street. We're certain to see a great
deal of grand back-slapping and a fresh new round of speculation and pontification of all things Web. With this important Web-anniversary looming, it
occurred to me that AboveTopSecret.com has exemplified all the best attributes the online culture has to offer. Sharing, collaboration, free-thinking,
debate, and forward-looking can all be used to describe both the culture of the Web and that of ATS. How did we get here, and what will we do next?
Moderator's Musings
The idea of "deny ignorance" isn't a goal that ATS hopes to accomplish. Instead, it's a challenge. A call to all those who come here to aspire to
a higher state of awareness through informed discussion and debate. Deny ignorance is what we do. It's how we think. It's how we talk. It's how we
listen.
A word from BTS
So if ATS is the office of the boards then BTS is the cool trendy bar down the road, there's cold drinks straight from the bottle and a live band on
the stage. It's a place to sit back and chill out from the often heated discussion that goes on everywhere else, we of the BTS Council or rather we
of the drink burdened table in the corner want BTS to remain the cool place that it is.
Our Binary Alexandria
The Royal Library of Alexandria was the greatest depository of wisdom this world had ever known. It held perhaps half a million scrolls organized into
ten rooms, each dedicated to a different branch of learning. The library burned, probably some time late in the 4th century, maybe later, and
countless priceless pieces of knowledge became ash on the Mediterranean breeze. As of this writing, ATS boasts well over a million posts, the combined
boards house over 1.5 million posts.
