Her name is Farida Goolam Mohamed Ahmed. She was stopped at McAllen Miller International Airport on July 19 headed to New York.

Eddie Flores of the U.S. Border Patrol office in McAllen, Texas tells FederalNewsRadio.com that a review of her papers raised some concerns.

"In looking at her documents, they did not find any entry documents in her passport where she was legally admitted into the United States," says Flores.

Terrorists are now finding out what undocumented workers have known for years. You can come across the Mexican border, and then you have free reign of travel throughout the country.

Al-Qaida militants and other terrorists traveling through Europe have obtained South African passports, and authorities believe they got them from crime syndicates operating inside the government agency that issues the documents.

The illicit acquisition of the passports, which allow travel through many African countries and Britain without visas, sent shock waves through South Africa after one top police official said "boxes and boxes" of the documents were discovered in London.

Woman caught in Texas with altered passport indicted

During a court hearing in McAllen, testimony indicated Ahmed traveled from Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 8, via Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to London, then to Mexico City on or about July 14.

The countries she traveled through don't require South Africans to have visas. She then crossed into the United States illegally by wading across the Rio Grande.

Part of the increase in the terror alert level being raised to orange for DC, NYC and Newark was based on the arrest of this women. This story also emphasizes the need to increase our border security.
