The 46 year old son of Ronald Reagan will speak at the Democratic National Convention in Boston this year. A move that has stunned many on the Republican side. WASHINGTON (AP) - Democrats have snagged a high-profile speaker - and a measure of political one-upmanship - for this month's convention: Ron Reagan.

The younger son of the late President Reagan will address the Democratic National Convention in Boston about stem cell research.

David Wade, a spokesman for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, said Monday that Reagan will have a ``prime time speaking slot during the July 26-29 convention. ``Ron Reagans courageous pleas for stem cell research add a powerful voice to the millions of Americans hoping for cures for their children, for their parents and for their grandparents, Wade said.

Reagan has spoken out in public interviews and commentary against the Bush administration's restrictions of funding and research in the use of embryonic stem cells.

Reagan has always been a political liberal, although he has never considered a political career. He is also reported to be an atheist. Asked by Larry King if he would run for a political office Reagan said... "Well, I'm an atheist for one thing.." His speech at his father's funeral in June 2004, however, suggested that he believes in an afterlife. He is known to have dissented from some of his father's policies and actions, but his views have only become widely known in recent years, when he has become more outspoken in his hostility to President George W. Bush.

Very funny that Bush wants his help in the upcoming elections. By the way did you know that he was a Yale drop out and very good at ballet but his own family was ashamed of him for be a ballet dancer? And he was a good one too.

Bush most be desperate

Ron Reagan is not Ronald Reagan that was a smart and well liked man.

He is his dads oppsite and was now to be a liberal since the start.

Democracts were saying that Republicans will use Reagans death to promote their race for president.

Well it looks like the ones that were acusing others are doing just the thing they were accusing others of doing.

I actually applaud Ron Jr. As a Republican I am appaled by the blatant appeal to the ultra religious right. Good for him on taking a stand. If the Democrats will give him a forum he should take it. According to him, his speech will discuss Stem Cell research only not the election, and the Dems are willing to give him prime time.
