anyone tried chickweed and maleluca cream? got it from my local health shop. is amazing at how much it sooths and stops the itchiness, which causes the eczema to disappear.

recommend it to anyone with eczema to try it. way better than the steroid cremes, calamine lotion or other treatments ive tried.

A friend of mine has that skin problem.
I suggested neem oil and it seemed to work pretty well.
Try looking into that stuff as well...its a pretty amazing plant.

so do i.

i usually get it if i get sweaty, in the heat, or if i wear synthetic clothes. (cotton is ok). moving to a cold climate stoppped my eczema for years.

i reckon ppl with eczema may have food sensitivities too. i would recommend no dairy, minimize red meat, no packaged/chemical/fast food stuff; maybe there could be a wheat/gluten issue too; and eat lots of vegies and clean water and nuts, seeds, beans, fruit etc.

but im allergic to everything...

My best friend had one of the worst cases of eczema his doctors had seen. He progressively went from one strength of cream to the next as he became immuned.

In the end the doctors/dermatologists had to make him go cold turkey and he had an extreme break-out. Then his step mother forced him to go swim in the ocean. I was told it burned like fire at first, but he kept with it and within weeks his eczema had totally cleared up. He hasn't really had an outbreak since (just the odd spot here and there) and that was over 20 years ago.

I will also try this, Lord knows ,
I have been through all of the traditional treatments
and none of them work . At the end of whatever cycle
of drugs I have taken , it always comes back.
I even went to Duke University and the Doctors
that teach the doctors couldn't agree on not only
what causes it
but also on what treatment is best.
Thanks .

You will all think i'm crazy, but hell it's ATS so here i go. (have considered a separate thread for this but thought it wouldn't be looked at, so left it alone)

I had a developing patch of bad eczema on my right arm and a little on my right leg.

It had suddenly started becoming much worse. Really itchy - you guys know the drill. It was worrying me.

Bare with me here now as i get loopy.

I have a strong belief that the body and indeed viruses, illnesses, diseases, etc have an intelligence of sorts. I believe that nothing in the body happens 'just because'. I believe it is all 'planned' with a 'reason' so to speak (kind of hard to explain).

Each case would be different for each person, but to give you an example, my eczema story is perfect.

With my belief in hand, i tried to determine what i had changed that would bring the eczema on so badly. My diet hadn't changed. My stress levels hadn't changed. My environmental exposure remained the same. So i got philosophical with it (please, stay with me).

At the exact same time my eczema flared up i had become, to put it bluntly, extremely vain. I had started buying all the latest clothes, did my hair to the newest styles, looked in every mirror i could, etc, etc.

So I linked the two. As my vanity increased, my body 'reacted' by 'impacting' on my physical appearance - it's weapon of choice? Eczema. My girlfriend still thinks im nuts for this theory but not even she (a practicing chiropractor) cannot explain it any other way.

So i acknowledged this vanity 'trend'. I realised, within, that external appearance is not important. I accepted myself as i am and became happy with myself regardless of how i present myself.

MOST IMPORTANTLY - I LEARNT THE LESSON PUT BEFORE ME.

Two days of becoming comfortable with this new mindset and my eczema disappeared COMPLETELY. In ALL locations on my body

Nothing changed except for my mindset in regards to my external appearance.

I have a doctor friend who cannot explain how my eczema disappeared almost overnight and with NO remaining scarring whatsoever. It shocked me too.

Using this theory of linking illness, virus, disease, etc with personal growth and awareness i have only gotten ill ONCE in the last 3 years. Prior to this I would get the flu seasonally along with everyone else and ALWAYS managed to get a summer flu.

The one time i have gotten ill was recently when, to be frank, i made out with my girlfriend when she was just getting a flu. Direct germ transfer still got me haha

Anyway make of this what you will, but i PROMISE, it worked for me and wanted to share.

Actually now ive typed this up, maybe I will start a new thread on it...

srsen, I am with you on this one; except that I haven't been able to successfully pair up the mindset that goes along with my condition(s). In my case its psoriasis.

I believe there is research out there that confirms this. It is, I believe, part of what makes Shamans and spiritual healers so successful at what they do.

I think its not always easy to face up to whatever demons need exorcising. I applaud you for doing it. Thanks for sharing.

IRM: nice to see you mate.

I couldn't agree more. I have dermatitis, and when I lived near the sea many years ago, my ex-defacto, who was an MD, told me to walk along the beach every day and just dive in a for a minute or two, and dry off naturally.

Worked like a charm for my dermatitis, and even .....yuck...tinea.

OP or anyone: if you're lucky to live seaside, the IRM's advice is golden

Living by the seaside does a lot for the mind set too.

At least it does for me when on vacay, so its a double whammy against those skin issues.

Indeed it does Wayno.

God, how I miss it so!

Nothing like sitting back with a hot cup of tea, looking out at the approaching storm on the ocean (and harbor in my case).

It's the best medicine one could get.

i don't think its loopy at all. i think there's a reason for everything.

you may have a point, i have bought a lot of new clothes lately...
im actually not usually that interested -never was for years- in what i wear but lately i started to get into fashion for some reason. i really feel more comfortable in 'daggy' clothes like t shirt/jeans.

although ive also noticed its seasonal for me; often when its between winter and warmer weather, i may be wearing warm clothes and if i get too hot or sweaty it flares up.

perhaps i need to do some introspection...

i do believe that i was 'helped' to find the creme i just found. whenever i find things/treatments that work i always think there's a reason for it.

now who's loopy?

I suffer from Pompholyx eczema, thats little blisters on the palms of the hands and the sides of the fingers, I had it so bad that I used to sleep with white cotton gloves on to stop me itching, that din't work however as I would still scratch to the bare flesh by rubbing my hands together with fingers in between each other, the gloves ended up covered in blood and I still had the itch.
If I didn't wear the gloves I would just put my fingers either side of the sheets and hold the sheet taunt under my chin/shoulder and knees and run my fingers down them.
My hands got so bad that I could not make a fist due to the swelling and even doing up buttons on my shirt caused me to bleed.

I spent thousands of dollars on treatments and specialists, creams and accupuncture all the way through to chinese herbs and wrapping my fingers in cabbage leaves over night, at one stage I was taking oral steroids to help. I avoided food high in zinc believing that it may help as I have a severe sensativity to zinc.

In the end I was able to get control of it, I still use a steroidal cream minimally if I get an out break, but the secret to my treatment was altering my diet.

I hope this isn't to graphic, but the aim is to clean out the body and have a bowel movement every day, drink plenty of water, fresh vegtables and fruit and avoid certain fatty products.
I am able to buy fish and chips from one store with no reaction, yet the same meal cooked in a different fat will cause an out break, I believe it is canola oil which does it to me.

I only use extra virgin olive oil now, olive based margarines and avoid things like potato chips.
anyone wanting to try this, do not use a chemical laxitive as it really does not help, fresh prune juice will help early on, but go slow.

I am only writing this as I know many people now suffer skin conditions, and anyone who has had a condition will do anything in the world to make it go away.

If anyone tries it and it works, send me a private message, I would like to know how many other people can be helped by avoiding pills and creams and just getting healthy.

I used a blackish/gray tar-like substance fifty years ago and was told that it was a zinc oxide salve. Worked like a charm. I also lived in a damp environment by the ocean BTW and it wasn't until I moved inland to a drier climate that the skin problems ceased.

May I also suggest scent-free/hypoallergenic laundry detergent and use a chlorine filter in your shower.

Eczema is often due to excess acidity.

Place half-cup of Bicarbonate of Soda in a hot bath and soak for 15 to 20 minutes...
...can also mix quarter teaspoon into litre of water...
...and drink between meals.

Also look at increasing alkaline food intake.

Thanks mckyle! Good to see you too my friend! Also very glad to hear that the sea helped you too. Sometimes natural cures are best IMHO.

I'd like to think there is a natural cure for everything on this Earth. Big Pharma would have us think otherwise!

Hi munkey66.

Reducing the bodies toxicity can help greatly. I saw a documentary where a health retreat was offering colonic irrigation and general body cleansing, liver cleansing etc to treat a multitude of skin conditions and every patient experienced a markable improvement.

Even if it doesn't work for some, it certainly won't hurt to be healthier!

Basically when i was a kid, i had suffered really bad, Mum had to bandage my hands up at night as all I would do would be itch the bloody life out of myself, used to end up going to school like that guy off Police Academy that had his eyebrows taken off. Over the years I tried everything, spent a fortune, creams from doctors, from mates, from relatives. Finally at the age of 16/17 I found Johnsons baby cream, it was the only thing I could get hold of was I was away one weekend, and too be honest, I have never looked back. been using it for over 10 years and too be honest, havent suffered from my eczema during this time.

This stuff was like a miracle cream for me .. and blooody cheap, can be found everywhere. For those of you/or people you know in the predicament we all once had, try it out guys
cgi.ebay.co.uk...

Just an add on, when i was younger my old man took me into the Sahara, and went to one of those Sulphur Pool type things, covered me in the mud ( got some real embarrasing pics from that day ) he is adamant that was the cure, so if any of you have the opp to try that out, def give it a go.

I've had Psoriasis for over 20 years and have tried everything that I could find to try. At one point it changed to PLC, pityriasis lichenoides chronica. Then, it changed back. Dermatitis, Excema, Psoriasis, PLC are similar skin conditions with similar treatments, namely topical lotions/ointments in traditional western medicine practice. The treatment can be individualized for each person, i.e. people will respond differently to different treatments despite the fact that they have the same skin condition.

The alternative method is to treat the resultant skin condition from within, which is, I believe, the problem. Although controversial with western doctors, "leaking gut syndrome" was first described by Edgar Cayce. Basically, the intestinal walls become porous or permeated to allow toxins to pass into the abdominal cavity. Eventually, the body rejects these toxins at the surface of the skin. So, topical treatments are band aid's...fixing the end product and not going after the source.

He recommended a specific diet and chiropractic treatment as your spinal alignment affects the gastrointestinal tract. Today, this is popularized by Dr. John Pagano as the Pagano method. I have used this method over a period of several years and can speak to it's unbelievable results. I also just had (2 months ago) a procedure to fix my pancreas because it was leaking...they believe that it was leaking fluid into my abdominal cavity for over 10 years. Coincidence, I think not.

The problem needs to be solved from within, but the topical lotions/ointments (the new ones) are excellent. My Psoriasis was plaque type for the most part and ointments were most effective. The most effective was Dovonex (calcipotriene) ointment which is a synthetic form of vitamin D (very safe especially when compared to steroids). Lately, a new mixture of calcipotriene and a "less harmful" steroid called Taclonex came out. This is liquid gold ladies and gentleman. It's expensive and worth it.

As for general, over-the-counter stuff I never really found anything to reduce the psoriasis in a given area. Just good, moisturizing, clean (no bad perfumes, etc.) stuff helped. I tried Melalueca oil both in it's concentrated form and in a variety of shampoos and lotions. For me, it didn't work that great. That's not to say it won't work for any of you. That's what's so tough about this crap.

And EX, man you sound down. I have been there my friend--I understand. Try to stay positive and be persistent so that you will find the right treatment that will work for you. IT IS out there, I assure you. I have been virtually free of psoriasis for seven years. And, I was covered head to toe for years. OHHHH, by the way alcohol and smoking are not good, especially alcohol. If I was drinking enough alcohol, any efforts to control my psoriasis were futile. Peace Everyone.
