How would cold fusion work.

How in the world would cold fusion work??? Because in order to have fusion you must have plasma which is superheated matter. So were do you come up with "cold" fusion.

I believe the term "Cold Fusion" comes from the belief that if you could stimulate nuclear reactions at room temperature, it would be the perfect power source. Homes and cars could power themselves. Possibilities include lowering pollution and not creating significant hazardous radiation or radioactive waste.

It is also only a theory, so there is nobody that can truly answer your question.

The central claim of cold fusion adherents is that a nuclear reaction (fusion of deuterium) can be initiated and maintained in an electrochemical apparatus not much different from the setup used to demonstrate the breakdown of water into hydrogen and oxygen in a high school chemistry lab. If this claim could be successfully verified, it promised nothing less than a total solution to the world's energy supply problems. The claim first appeared in the press in March of 1989, and provoked considerable public and scientific interest. It was put forward by respectable scientists (Fleishmann and Pons of the University of Utah) and was supported by reports from other respectable scientists that they had been able to replicate those findings. These initial claims, however, were soon met by counterclaims from equally respectable labs and investigators, to the effect that the initial findings could not be replicated.

I came across this interesting method that is worth mentioning, Apparently if ultrasound is used to implode bubbles in acetone in a process called sonofusion one can concievably acheive fusion of heavy hydrogen nuclei.

This is not an new idea and has undoubtedly been in the research phases for some time. Definitely needs to become a national priority and suffecient funding given. Screw the big oil companies.
