"There's abundant evidence for the need of it. The old one-dimensional categories of 'right' and 'left' , established for the seating arrangement of the French National Assembly of 1789, are overly simplistic for today's complex political landscape. For example, who are the 'conservatives' in today's Russia? Are they the unreconstructed Stalinists, or the reformers who have adopted the right-wing views of conservatives like Margaret Thatcher ?
On the standard left-right scale, how do you distinguish leftists like Stalin and Gandhi? It's not sufficient to say that Stalin was simply more left than Gandhi. There are fundamental political differences between them that the old categories on their own can't explain. Similarly, we generally describe social reactionaries as 'right-wingers', yet that leaves left-wing reactionaries like Robert Mugabe and Pol Pot off the hook."

3.25 left/right, 1.44 authoritarian. I think that should cause people to think before calling me, well, you know what you call me, B-T.!

I'd be willing to bet none of us are as far in whatever direction as the other's think. We just seem to have to defend our quandrant whenever we feel it is being attacked.

-7.62 Economic Left
-5.23 Libertarian South
It works out to be a little more left than Gandhi, and a little more south than Gandhi. I'm not surprised.

Did anyone else find a few questions leading, and did anyone else find it limiting when definite words such as "all" or "any" were used, limiting circumstance?

That test put me in the upper/right-hand centrist box, but it was certainly a short test.

Me, the centrist?

I'm over with Ma-Ha, in Ghandi's corner and a bit closer to Ghandi. Man, that's a scary thought!

I did find some of the questions leading, as well, what if you disagreed with the entire premise of the question. The question about the Jews threw me off. What does that have to do with economic left/right or authoritarian/libertarian north/south? How about rephrasing the question: People should accept the consequences of their actions? Agree or Disagree. I was be-wildered at that question. As well, the questions about capitalism vs. the good of the people. What if you believe capitalism is good for the people? See first question (I think) about Globalisation.
You are right TC, it was definately a leading questionnaire. Fun results though.

It says I'm a Centrist.....but that most people who've taken the test are Libertarian. They should start marketing themselves better, in the US.
