Hee, hee, this is a little tongue in cheek of course as I know that Jesus wouldnt condone any political party we have right now but I still think there is a point to be made. Its been clear for years that the right, especially in America, has claimed Jesus as their own and perceives their politics to be the closest to his teachings. I find this absurd. Like in any good totalitarian state religion has been used as means of control and formed to their own means. It matters not which religion it is. Ill assume we all know the basic basis of right and left politics. Anyway to voice the reasons why I think the right perceive Jesus as 'on their side' and why it's absurd would take ages, so instead Ill put some reasons why I think Jesus was the original commie pinko, or, what I actually think, a socialist, and invite others to give verses of Jesus teachings that they think sway more to the right. The only one I can think of is the give unto Caesars what is Caesars one, but if thats it, its very far outweighed.

For starters:

Jesus of course never much cared for the loud religious types. He called them hypocrites.

He said in Matthew, Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are. (Matthew 23:15)

The famous quote:

If you have two cloaks
and your brother has none, give him one of yours

We have the simple teaching of love one another as I have loved you which pretty much encapsulates all of Jesus teachings. The people he reached out to, spoke out for and helped the most was the poor. That was how he wanted us to be. He didnt blame the poor for being poor, or tell them to pull their socks up and get a job or tell them it was their fault etc. He dedicated his entire life to helping the sick and poor. He endeavoured to bring about equality among people. Jesus was not only a prominent religious figure of his time, but he was also very much involved in the politics of economic inequality:

"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

All the believers were one heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time, those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need (Acts 4:32-35).

Oh my God! Socialist or what!!!!

Jesus really disliked the rich and he obviously loved the poor. He demanded destitution of his followers, If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me (Matthew 19:21)

"whatsoever you do
to the least of my brothers, you do to Me." (Mt. 25:40).

And, my favourite Bible quote of all time:

"It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle
Than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God."

(Mark 10:17-27)

Im drunk, but I still think I have a point. I am really sick of watching the plethora of American and European right wing biblical channels and reading bull# in the press that ignores everything he stood for while twisting everything and making their own interpretations into a flimsy justification for anything they want to prove. To me these people are evil. Supremely evil.

Yes people, I'm afraid Jesus was a utopian socialist commie pinko! but of course, that wasn't what he really meant to say was it?

Theres plenty more quotes from my side, I'll post anymore I can think off. I'd like to hear any anyone else can think of but id especially like to hear some from the right. Im talking about what the Bible says is Jesus word or deeds only btw, not anything from the old testament.

Care to expand? My point (erroneous as it is and may be) is that left wing politics are more in tune with Jesus teachings than the right. What is that makes you think the opposite? I'm not taking the piss, I want to know.

A news article that's semi-relevant:

Australia 'might deny Jesus entry'

The Archbishop of Sydney has suggested that if Jesus tried to gain entry to Australia now, it is possible he would be denied asylum.

Peter Jensen's comments were made in a statement harshly criticising the country's immigration policies ahead of a Christmas speech to Christian charity Anglicare in Sydney.

"With the apparent cloud over the paternity of Jesus, it is likely that he would have been a victim in our society," he said.

"Perhaps as refugees, the family of Jesus would have been denied entry into Australia."

Australia's asylum policies under the conservative government of John Howard are among the toughest in the developed world.

The same thing has been said about Britain's asylum policies.

I will never understand, fortunately, what exactly people think they are interpeting when the meaning is clear. Political some, yes, but many go way off the rocker!!

Sorry I don't know of anything else in the bible. Maybe the Nag Hammadi thingies have some more commi workings.

Totally agree. My 40 plus years leads me to drink as well. The young believe what they are told. some accept it everything........

Others think about it.

I was raised in the Catholic Church. I remember my "Sacrament of Confirmation." I was very young, but in this sacrament a priest asks "Do you renounce Satan?" I said "I do." " And all his works?" I do." I was fairly uncomfortable with the question. I was curious how I would be tested.

One day two young boys rode their bicycles up to the church door and gave it a kick. I did not do anything. I just thought they were stupid.

I spent a lot of time watching the TV show Hogan's Heroes. The Nazis were made to look like fools. I thought our Soldiers were so much smarter than the Nazis.

Now I am older and having read about Prescott Bush funding Hitler, I realize that Hogan's Heroes just made many of us feel that our Country was run by enemies of Hitler.

I think to say I believe in God the father, his son Jesus and the Holy spirit was a bold statement. To say I BELIEVE means that I have no doubts. When someone says I should not question something I get suspicious. The bible says I should not test the Lord, my God. The apostles said the bible has been taught now consider all men liars. I believe that statement more than most. When I question men, I don't think I am testing God.

When G.W. Bush says you are for us or against us, I must seriously consider that statement. Who does he mean by us? So I read up on who his family is and this Prescott Bush thing just blows my mind.

Life in the U.S. seems to be just one twisted event. To witness the destruction of afree people and the pollution of their lands and the bending of their minds all at the same time is a sight to behold.

I see what is meant by Satan now. Satan just gives and takes away. Teaches you one thing then slowly reveals how he has fooled you. He is an egotistical bastard in the true sense of the word. I hope he enjoys his vacation in the lake of fire.

And Jesus was a communist? I know what you mean. But I was raised to believe that the communists were Christian persecuters. Churches had to go under ground. So the principle Jesus taught is seperate from communism.
I think that communist ideas would have worked to some extent had it not been for the cold war. I think that the U.S. would have survived and been strong except for the cold war.
I think the soviet Union was starting to turn a profit just before it fell. The U.S. was starting to turn a profit before W. came along. I keep hearing how it was all going to crap before Bush was elected.
I think maybe it's all manipulation. Like the Venezuela "strike." I read that it was kind of backwards for a strike. Instead of workers striking, the oil plant owners and business owners who supported the oil business locked out their workers. All manipulation by big business.
There seem to be parallels between stated communist goals and the things happening in America. Like small farmers tossed off their land. I think that there is no system which can be devised that will work for al humans .Because those who control everything want to control more and more and can never be happy without taking from those less fortunate.
Health care for all in America would really make America a blessing. I think that happy poor people piss off the very wealthy. Maybe because with all they have they are not really happy.
I watched a TV show about these guys at a Miami Beach bar . People in the bar may spend tens of thousands of dollars on the nights drinks. Just showing off. I've been there one night. Just a bunch of ass holes if you ask me.
Probably people who got their money in disgusting ways. They were sure stuck up. If I was looking to meet someone worth knowing I would avoid that place. I was in that place once. It was weird- leopard skin couches and no one would talk to us. We almost didn't get in... the excuse was we were wearing shorts. In Miami? I guess we didn't hand them a fifty quick enough.
Jesus said we must forgive our brothers or forget about entering heaven. He said to do what you can for the least of his brothers. I sometimes think the least of our brothers are the rich who can't be happy . The least we can do is forgive the poor bastards who have their knives in our throats though they have plenty. Can you imagine a more pitiful existance. They see themselves as lions when they are more properly recognized as leeches.

That's partly my point.
I'm not saying he was a communist, It's just a jokey reference to a slander term a lot of those to the right use for anyone to the left.

Thanks Tr, I was raised a Catholic too, and had my own
Sacrament of Confirmation and pretty much thought the same thing. In fact I'd say the statement (I suppose it's a question, but you only have one answer so I'd say it's more of a statement) of do you reject Satan and all his works was one of things that made me start to think about the whole thing. I gave up on every religion when was about 13, but I still believe in God. I don't believe in the whole of the Bible, as it was written down by man, it is not the verbatim word of God, but the general message that was meant to come through still does. My point in this though is why the right thinks they are the ones fulfilling Christs teachings the best, when if you look at what Christ said compared to political viewpoints, it is clearly not the case. Im not too comfortable with bringing God or Christ into any part of politics, but I think it is a point that needs to be made.

I actually agree with what the republicans say but not what they do. of coyurse its not really the republicans or the democrats . The hegellian dialectic actually is running things. Bush says we are united as a nation but we are actually divided by the political parties. We can blame the" republicans" or the "democrats" for failures. But actually the end result is the product of INDIVIDUAL choices. The line item veto was a good start, but what should be done is to make it illegal to send unrelated items to the president in the first place. we often give the president bills with blackmail attached. You have to pass what you don't wan't to get anything you do want. In the long run there is no accountability. The president feels manipulated, and if he passed a bill to heal he'd have to pass a bill to kill something or someone.. It's all bovine excretum if you ask me. It's like hey fella I'll let you do something good but only if you dom something bad. what a way to run a country. Kill the PORK!

Jesus liked to play "the state" sometimes too.

Feeding the masses by dividing up the fishes and loaves, believe in me, and no man shall go hungry.

Yup, commie.
