Here's a bit more:

International Herald Tribune

MEXICO CITY: An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6 rocked Mexico City early Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, knocking out power in parts of the city.

The quake hit shortly before 1 a.m. local time (0600 GMT), sending people out into the streets. It lasted less than a minute but was strongly felt by residents.

Police patrolled streets while families waited out on the streets in their pajamas, fearing aftershocks.

Hardly ever hear about quakes in Mexico.

From that map it looks as though the epicenter was close to Acapulco,
which if I'm nto mistaken is a tourist vacation area.

Which would mean this may get more coverage than if it happened in
the middle of farm country far away from economic areas like that.

Hopefully no one has been killed.

I posted a duplicate news article on this too... didn't see this one! oops.
Hopefully the mods will clear that out.

I haven't seen any updated news on this yet. I know it just happened... I'm just anxious to see how the Mexicans are doing tonight.

Doesn't look too bad from what I can gather. Still no reports of injuries. If this had been centered under Mexico City, it'd be a completely different story.
