They're both good machines: the Hokum is certainly much more interesting technically: this contra-axial counter-rotationg set-up with no need for a
tail-rotor is a pretty effective piece of engineering (one hopes) and the single-seater nature does make it rather more like a "fighter" of old.
It apparently has a very advanced ejector-seat system also.
I'm not sure any helicopter comes across as very "mean" to me -unless it's against relatively weak air-defences: it's a miracle any of them
flies, given the aeronautics (torque, pitch, yaw etc.) and they always strike me as very vulnerable targets.
But -in the right scenario -very effective ground-attack machines.
I'm not sure if the Hokum has been put into the field yet (limited service perhaps).

One thing to note, thought: last photo is not a Ka-50, but a Ka-52, the two seats Hokum version. I could never understood why they choose a
side-by-side configuration for this one... They are both gunners?
[Edit]: I have preference for the aircraft which artistic impression I use as avatar... [edited again]It was a Boeing X-50 Dragonfly, i changed it
due size constraints.
BTW, Zion Mainframe, nice page, but too personal for my tastes...

1) Yes, it's a KA-52, and not a KA-50. Thanks. It was really an horrible mistake and I have to be sentenced to death, specialy cuz I knew it.
2) Yep. One gunner for the left-gun, and another one gunner for the right-gun.Like this, they can fired, both of them, and nobody is jealous. These
Russians are really gentlemen, isn't it ?

I would say that Ka-50 Hokum is better.. Hell it is BEST.. least untill the EUROCOPTER TIGER enters service..
And Cobra is maybe best (better..) US Gunship..
But Still Mi-24 Hind is most feared.. has more firepower than medium size third world country..

Dude on the left is pilot and the one on the right is gunner, there is a gun on the right side, no gun on the left side. The two seater Ka-52 was
originally for training purposes, but then flying the chopper alone made it harder than with two pilots.
