wow, these s-200 are dangerous. The Iranians have extended range versions with 315km range from what i understand.

and these chinooks i didn't know Iran had these. Does Iran make them itself or are these just the one's from the day's of the Shah.

By the way these all are nice pictures.

Nice pictures ... kind of eerie.

I dig the spats on the sailors -- and their 'specops' -- definitely stylish.

...Seems like a very paper-tiger army; creepy, but lots of brash show and not particularly ferocious. I hope.

PS - How much of that is US surplus, do you think?

iqonx, your correct on the S-200 range and those chinooks are still in service from the shahs era but now we make engines for them and were putting in our own spare parts into them, they are almost close to being re-engineered though just like the huey and cobra attack helicopter.

Thanks for the compliment, also irans military spending was 4.3bill but that was only in 2003, now in 2006 it growed to an estimate of 9.7bill.

Please grow up. Did you really have to post those pictures.

Yes, absolutely i do. It’s the same thing. Genocidal rhetoric from a fanatical leader followed by military parades, classic example of history repeating itself. It’s identical.

And as far as your "grow up" comment, this is as grown up as it gets, burry your head deeper in that sand, maybe you will be safe there.

You better hope that, because if Iran is attacked...they may *shock, horror* try to fight back.

It does make you wonder, does'nt it.

The next question is, if it is US Surplus (Look at pictures 1-3, they could pass for US Soldiers in desert uniform, especially the helmets) where did they get it from.

What sort of planes are they, that were flying?

By some long convoluted chain, it may very well be American surplus. Go online, you can buy most anything .... the government is always angling to make money, there are tons of gov't surplus wharehouses that sell to anyone ("green is green," as they say). The planes may not be as up to date as American craft, but we have traded with the USSR, or Afghanistcan, or various South American countries, and they have made their way to Iran.

And yes, the spats are quite dapper. Teehee.

Iran makes its own bullet proof vests and helmets
, we also had a deal with Russia to make some of our mig-29s SMT standard.

Here Mehran, you forgot the most impressive part of the parade:

Just add water!

Har Har
Thats a rather old looking REG and a high volume mask. Not to state of the art if you ask me.

Most countries have these even Britain uses underwater boats like these there used by the Royal Marines commando/SBS for underwater operations and where even used in WW2 quite succesfuly. Although i'm not sure what there operational status is recent times in the british forces. I'm also sure boats like these are used by amny other countries as well.

The Iranian military can sure dress up smart.

Interestingly there are no pictures of the Special Unit of Martyr Seekers who have been strutting around at other parades in Iran. This "unit" of suicide bombers with their smart State-issued explosive-filled vests strutting proudly infront of their inspirational leaders fills me with more dread and concern than these pictures.

Does Iran actualy Design and field anything of its own?

When can we expect to see Iranian design Main battle tanks.
When can we expect to see Iranian design Attack helos.
When can we expect to see Iranian design Main battle rifles?
When can we expect to see any of these things.

To COLe

yeah Iran actually manufactures there own stuff as well as complete copies and hybrids of other stuff for example they might have some tech from the time of the shah from the west and they will mix it with russian tech and make a new weapon.

heres some pictures of there stuff that they have :
www.network54.com...

In there 3/4 down there is a Bullpup gun called Khayber and also on the same site they have tanks and a 6 wheel jeep with the front of a humvee and the back is completely different if you look closly it actually has 4 wheels on the back and 2 at the front making it a 6 wheel jeep. and many other stuff also notice they have cobra helicopter gunships with "hydra" type rocket pods there as well as well as tonns of other stuff like night vision, tandem warhead RPG's etc...

Well, In a ground war, Iran will have the advantage since they have battlerifles AND armor...

But they will be more evenly matched in an airwar with the advantage definitly on the side of the US, but those Russian SAMs will have alot of effect on US air units.

Bush is right about sticking to diplomacy, a war with Iran would be devastating to US economy...

Wow, for once I agree with something the Bush administration does!
