I believe what I actually said was that I WAS influenced by stats; that I have negatively appraised those members with not so good stats, and positively appraised the ones who have good stats, albeit subconsciously.

Indeed I still AM influenced (the subconscious is a powerful entity).

It follows by logical inference that if I am influenced in this way, others may be also.

It matters to me that favouritism is being encouraged. If that doesn't matter to you, I can understand why you posed the question.

Good point though - why have airy-fairy concepts like WATS and Karma when they are 'very likely' not comprehensible to the average member?

They have decided it is worthwhile and they don't really give a crap what you think about the system.

when you start telling other people what they ought to be doing, or telling this site what they ought to display or not display, you have crossed a line. This is not a democracy. You do not have a vote. You don't get to tell other people what to do.

Sooo...I guess we shouldn't point out "The Applause" stats to OP quite yet.

Gotta go to the profile of the person to see those. That takes extra effort.
ETA - at least those numbers and the number of posts aren't messed up. Those are accurate.

The whole 'star' system should be gotten rid of, IMHO. It's skewed and it encourages 'group think'.

Funny how this post gets a bunch of stars.
