Some probably don't understand how there isn't a ban on steroids already in the UFC. But there was, simply that these new measures are banning all medical use, (hormone replacement therapy). When you allow hormone replacement it doesn't take long for someone who knows a guy who knows a guy, to find a doctor willing to write a prescription.

What is HRT? Basically the same androgenic-anabolic male hormones (synthetic testosterone) known for "cheating", given to someone to bring their levels up when their natural levels are not high enough. Low testosterone can cause a host of problems, like depression, malaise, low sex drive, fatigue, inability to recover from strenuous exercise, etc.

I have mixed feelings on this, as people claim "cheating" for anyone who is supplementing their testosterone… it is not as if all men are created equal. Many have low test to begin with, and some are not able to process it with the same ability as others, whether or not natural or synthetic. So if a person with low test fights someone with high test (both natural) is it still a fair fight?

It will definitely change the shape of the octagon, and for sure the methods the fighters use to prepare.

The UFC has banned the use of TRT abroad, according to this official press release.

"The Ultimate Fighting Championship fully supports the decision made today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission regarding the immediate termination of therapeutic use exemptions (TUE) for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)," White stated in the release. "We believe our athletes should compete based on their natural abilities and on an even playing field. We also intend to honor this ruling in international markets where, due to a lack of governing bodies, the UFC oversees regulatory efforts for our live events. We encourage all athletic commissions to adopt this ruling."

The Nevada State Athletic Commission struck a blow for fair, healthy MMA competition today, voting for an immediate ban on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Therapeutic usage exemptions (TUE) will no longer be granted to fighters, even for those who had been approved to use hormone therapy in the past. Furthermore, the NSAC will push other states to ban TRT as well, and won’t honor the TUEs approved by other state commissions.

I think it is completely fair, otherwise what is the point. If everyone is artificially made equal, then there is no 'fight' or champion. It's more or less, real life XBOX in a ring.

Powerups suck.
