Though you did ignore the fact Russia is going to be the aggressor here, and that means that we for once wont be the bad guys.

This goes a very long way in the hearts and minds campaign that will obviously follow in the propaganda war.

Cant really disagree there either.

But really good or bad its just going to end up in a mountin of corpses on both sides.

Not worth the Crimea really.

Let Russia have it.

We completely crushed the Iraqi army in less than a week. That was warfare, the rest was occupation.

Out right warefare ? occupation? Just words.

If the occupation phase costs more and kills more than the outright warefare then its still a massive problem.

Absolutely, as in warfare soldiers with training and weapons are dying, in an occupation mostly it is defenseless civies just trying to feed their families.

So about you saying our leaders won’t be stupid enough to full out attack Russia?

How did MAD all of sudden disappear from the equation?

Here's the deal

I honestly feel too many have a knee jerk reaction and a false perspective that if neither Russia or the West get their way it's automatically war. Then we have people declaring, promoting, advocating and cheering that Russia should "take back" the Ukraine *Which doesn't belong to them anymore than Iraq/Afghanistan belonged to the US*

Wheres the logic and justification in that?

Kerry should STFU

In my not so humble opinion.

I agree, Kerry is beating a war drum while Putin is rattling his saber. Kerry doesnt have a dog in the fight. Russia has nukes that belonged to them in another country that has now had it government completely collapse. If those find their way out and are used.....Russia will be blamed for not stopping it.

This just seems like our current admin trying to get back some their bravado they have lost every time they play chess with the Russians.

Im not cheering Russia on.

Ukraine dosnt belong to them.

But I rather the USA and EU keep out and as far away as possible.

Interfering could backfire in epic way.

While my libertarian bent wants to agree with you here, what if you were right now in Ukraine? Would you want to be forced back into the folds of the Russian wings?

I am not saying we should get involved, but I dont think we should just leave them to their fates either. Up to and including active military participation to defend the Ukraine if necessary, in the event they wish us to help.

There is no guarantee they would want us to, our track record isnt very good on helping then leaving in a timely manner at present honestly.

There is none to be found that I can see, this is human ignorance and political insanity from where I am sitting.

It will only backfire if the west go in to.

IF we just let Russia and Ukraine fight it out themselves and we just watch then I dont see a issue.

You can rar rar chest beat as much as you like. Still don’t change the fact that all out war with Russia would be a very very bad idea.

Disagreeing with your logic and analysis is "rar rar chest beating" ?

What's with that wok?

Is Ukraine really worth risking world war 3 over?

I certainly wont be signing up to go.

Bad choice of words but really I was just tired of hearing how the west will walk over Russia easily like it did Iraq.

Id rather over estimate someone than underestimate.

Wait are you advocating appeasement? This has proven disastrous in 9 out of 10 cases. It simply reinforces the bad behavior.

Yeah but you'll support letting Russia invade another sovereign nation eh?

So they can 'Fight it out'

Fight what out?

A Russian invasion

Ever heard of Chechnya? How about Georgia? How about the Russian invasion of Afghanistan? Lets speak plainly here, Russia has one of the worst track records in the world as far as their abusive military occupations.

Theirs make our look like tea parties.

If Putin goes in. Yeah its bad.

My point is if the west decide to get in the way.

Russia wont back down cause the west tell them to. Short of the USA giving the Alaska back and the UK giveing them Gibralter Russia wont part with Sevastopol. Il bet a pint of good British beer on it. If the west trys to block Russia or even threaten to harm Russia hold on Sevastopol I garentee there will be trouble.
