Something is really nagging me and there's too many possibilities as to what. So we just continue holding our breath wondering if this is it.

No Kali, Breathe… Breathe…

Why should I care? It's Europe. And It's the Europeans problem. Unless any of the parties involved attack U.S. assets directly, we should just watch and see Europe melt-down. And when the U.S. assets over in Europe do get attacked? A perfect reason for getting out of NATO. No matter how this bloodbath shakes out, it's win/win for the USA. Oh, right. I forgot. Obama/Kerry/Rice.
We're boned.
good thing is, I can hear our guys spinning up the nukes right now !

What we say. . .

What we want. . .

Who we back. . .

Who we cheer for. . . .

Means nothing.

There will either be war, civil war, more unrest or not.

I have to say it amazes and saddens me to see how many people are eager for war. Not 'war games' like Libya, Iraq or Afghanistan have been...and make no mistake, those have been nothing but full contact war games compared to Russian flagged forces and American flagged forces mixing it up, in even a short engagement.

Nothing comes from this but death. Dead bodies and people wishing they had joined the dead in a merciful release from the ruins they'll face as a reality to live in. If war comes over this, it'll be a dark day for the planet, not just the Ukrainians or Russians over the border.

There is nothing attractive about war...except to those who have never seen it, experienced it, or been close to those who have survived it to witness first hand, what it does to destroy even those it doesn't kill.

John McCain, among others, has become a man in love with death. I'm afraid he's building a following....and it's a truly scary thing to see. That death loving can so easily turn focus and come to be responsible for so much more, as well.

Russia Today have reported some parts of the declaration from Kharkiv

“The territorial integrity of Ukraine is at risk,” the gathering stated in the resolution.

It added that instability in Ukraine is highly dangerous and may cause unpredictable consequences, considering that the country hosts five nuclear power plants with 15 reactors in total, which some extremists have threatened to attack.

The resent decisions of the national parliament were taken in conditions “of terror, threats of violence and death,” the resolution says. The gathering says the legislative acts may have been passed involuntarily and are neither legitimate nor lawful.

The opposition has broken the agreement with the government signed on Friday, the resolution says.

“Armed gangs have not given over their weapons, they continue taking over governmental buildings, killing citizens and officers of the law,” it says.

So mother Russia is scared that the Ukraines nuclear power plants will be attacked - so they will use military intervention to protect the USSR.
Not to mention the loss of Sevastopol, the home of the Black sea fleet, would be disastorous.

Ummm...

Once upon a time 'Mother Russia' and the Ukraine were part of the USSR, The 'USSR' no longer exists neither does Russia's claim on the Ukraine... I think Russia needs to know this.

Old habits die hard. Russia will do what it considers necesary to defend itself from possible attack by "extremists". It's the "great game" all over again. The east and the west fighting over who controls the Crimea and afghanistan..

Yes, I'm aware of the New Great Game. If that's true then for 'Mother Russia' formerly known as the USSR Afghanistan was a loss, Syria is on the rocks and the Ukraine seems to have made their choice.

The black sea could be a breaking point. In 2010 the president of Ukraine extended Russias lease to stay in the port until 2042, and maybe even 2047. This was HUGELY unpopular in the Ukraine, but they said it protected 15,000 jobs and a cheap gas supply. There were calls for impeachment, as its illegal to base foreign troops on Ukrainian soil, so it wont be a member of NATO until the lease expires..if it ever does.
So, everything from the Abkhazian coast to the Romanian border, will remain a Russian zone.
Its a base they cant afford to loose with more and more former soviet states looking to NATO for membership.

This is what Medvedeev had to say today:

“Frankly, the legitimacy of many governmental bodies is in doubt there,” Medvedev said. “Treating masked men armed with Kalashnikov rifles, who are now circling Kiev, as a government – we would find it difficult working with such a government.” He added that Russia is willing to fulfill all its obligations under agreements signed with Ukraine, but is concerned that its interests may be under threat. A sign of this unease is the recall of Russian ambassador to Ukraine back to Moscow for consultations. “This move means that we do not understand what is happening in that country and that there is a threat to our interests, the lives and well-being of our citizens,” he explained. Medvedev reminded that Russia's December agreement with then-President Yanukovich on a discount to the price of Russian natural gas sold to Ukraine has a deadline. “What happens after that deadline is a subject for further discussion with the leadership of Ukrainian companies and Ukrainian government, if one exists by that time,” he said.

Remember the Ossetia conflict?

Bizarre coincidence?
Or clever political strategy?
It is interesting regardless.

Timeline of Russia-Georgia war

On the morning of 8 August, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who was in Beijing attending the 2008 Summer Olympics, condemned the Georgian government for aggression and breaking the Olympic truce, and that Russia would be compelled to retaliate.[91] By 09:30, President Medvedev convened an emergency session of government officials to consider Russia’s options regarding the conflict.[92]
Half an hour later, Georgian sources reported that three Russian Sukhoi Su-24 attack aircraft flew into the Georgian airspace and dropped two bombs close to a police station near the town of Kareli, which borders South Ossetia.[93]

MrSpad
Except that on the other side of the Ukraine is NATO and the EU. Russia is out numbered and out gunned.

But Russia can make decisions quicker than the democracies, and can present the fait accompli of a partial occupation responding to a request from "the legal President".
Once there, is NATO really going to commit itself to declaring war to drive them back?

1988 has been mentioned, but think rather 1968. "The Prague Spring".

Have to agree with you here...nobody will do a thing if Russia moves in there. The US and Europe might do a little saber-rattling but that's about it. Anyone really think we'd go to war with Russia over this? Doubtful. Maybe a few sanctions and some arms support to the opposition, but that's about it.

Ever ask yourself why'd they want to join the EU being as bad as it is?

Maybe those living there might know more about how they'd like to live than all of us sitting here guessing and speculating eh?

To everyone sober-minded!
Dear European citizens! Most of European mass-media are not telling you the truth about what is happening in Ukraine at the moment. They say that all the people of Ukraine support Maidan (historically it was a marketplace, nowadays it is the place of a crowded meetings in Kiev). They are lying that democratic forces came into power in Ukraine. Not all Ukrainians are supporting Maidan.
Many of those people who went on the attack on the Ukraine government in Kiev wanted a better life sincerely. They justly criticized the current Ukrainian regime before. But in fact they became only the instrument in dirty hands of Nazi party “Svoboda” (“Freedom”) and Nazi movement “Pravyi sector” (“Right sector”). The result of Maidan is that the authorities were taken by fanatical Nazis. In fact, in Ukraine there was an armed Nazi revolt.
In this connection yesterday, on February 23, over 20,000 citizens of Sevastopol (Crimea, Ukraine) gathered in the central main square and protested against this armed rebellion and decided to take power in the city in their hands. They elected the head of the Executive committee of Sevastopol (Mr. Alexey Chaly).
Citizens of democratic Europe! It is important to understand that in Ukraine radical Nazi forces came into power nowadays.
Like in China in 1960s crowds of Red Guards armed with sticks, chains and other cold weapons, beat everyone who expresses disagreeing with the "new order". All Ukrainian mass-media today are at the hands of Ukrainian Nazis. Journalists do not dare to write what they think. Freedom of speech in Ukraine died. In fact most of the deputies of the Ukrainian Parliament are being held hostage by Nazi gangs now.
The main political forces of Europe and of the USA who supported the Ukrainian opposition not long ago, today carry direct responsibility for this nightmare in Ukraine.
