So this is probably the coolest thing I've seen on youtube in a while. The instrument is called a keyed sheng, and the sound it makes is EXACTLY like the sound effects and tunes from Super Mario Brothers. This is a vid of a Chinese girl playing the Super Mario Bros. Theme... And it totally wins the internet!

Enjoy!

Awesome!

Although, I am sure the inventor of that instrument is rolling over in his grave at the performance of this Japanese piece!

Aw, now thats just deadly as we say here in Dublin, Ireland. Brilliant!
Sounds exactly like the Mario Bros game.
Uncanny would be the word to use here....

This makes me wonder if the original Super Mario music wasn't modeled after this instrument.

For example, when I am making music in Fruity Loops, I choose the sampler I want to use and they are usually modeled after sounds or instruments in real life.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It just sounds so much like the game! A friend of mine showed me the vid and I just had to share it. Glad everyone likes it.
