Dianne Feinstein: "All vets are mentally ill in some way and government should prevent them from owning firearms."
Yep, - she really said it on Thursday in a meeting in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee...

Where then is my 100% service connected disability check..

I think all veterans should apply and quote Dianne Feinstein.

That would play hell with the veterans disability system.

That old hag and all of her kind are mentally incompetent, corrupted and are nothing than recycle trash in politics, they all need to be put in jail charge with treason and the punishment should be done accordingly.

As a veteran. A combat veteran. With over 150 firefights under my belt. this. this infuriates me to the extent that i have to type very slowly. and think of what im attempting to convey. i cant. if i keep typing i will destroy T&C and surely earn a ban. Diane Feinstein is an evil, lying, manipulative, Fascist sow. it should be law, that in order to have any say in anything against anyone who went to war for their country, That this person should have undeniable proof of having been to war AND been in combat for at the very least 9 months. something. anything. let them experience firsthand day in and out what so many of my brothers and sisters have. Then and only then should their voice be considered

Funny I don't feel mentally ill.
I have a slight head cold but not full blown crazy.
Though I may be coming down with PTSD "Politicians Talking Sh*T Disorder".

I'm pretty certain that it doesn't matter, but not only is this news over a year old, Feinstein didn't say what is quoted.

March 7, 2013

U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee meeting

Feinstein:

The problem with expanding this is that, you know, with the advent of PTSD, which I think is a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq War, it’s not clear how the seller or transferrer of a firearm covered by this bill would verify that an individual was a member, or a veteran, and that there was no impairment of that individual with respect to having a weapon like this. So, you know, I would be happy to sit down with you again and see if we could work something out but I think we have to — if you’re going to do this, find a way that veterans who are incapacitated for one reason or another mentally don’t have access to this kind of weapon.

Another rendition since the above quote is from Snopes and would probably be automatically suspect thereby:

the problem with expanding this is that you know with the advent of PTSD, uhh, which i think is a new phenomenon as a product of the iraq war, umm, it's not clear how the seller or transferer of a firearm covered by this bill would verify that an individual was a member, or a vetran, and um that there was no impairment of that individual with respect to having a weapon like this. so you know i would be happy to sit down with you again and see if we could work something out but um, i think we have to -- if you're going to do this, find a way that veterans who are incapacitated for one reason or another mentally, uh, dont have access to this kind of weapon.

The second quote is from the Georgia Outdoor News Forum - March 7, 2013. This is from my home state and I can tell you, none of these ol' boys support anything but gun rights.

This was picked up and reverberated through the right-wing echo chamber at the time (3/7/2013) and again recently (1/29/2014).

I mention "right-wing echo chamber" because of these search results: Google - Last 30 days - Faux Feinstein quote

Anyone interested in denying ignorance would find this level of misrepresentation and misquoting more than a bit disturbing I would think.

Thank you masked stranger for doing the reseach to find the facts in the matter.

I believe your title is a bit misleading.

That's ONE democrat.

It doesn't suggest that ALL democrats are waiting to take guns way from people.

That would be like saying that ALL republicans believe in 'legitimate rape' just because Todd Akin said it.

Let us listen to the expert!

Top shrink: Leftists are mentally ill!

'The Liberal Mind' by acclaimed forensic psychiatrist Lyle Rossiter Just when liberal-leftists thought it was finally "their time" to lead center-right America, kicking and screaming, into a stifling socialist "utopia," a veteran psychiatrist is making a powerful case that the "hope-and-change" ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder.

For more than 40 years, Rossiter has diagnosed and treated over 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases, both state and federal, as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist retained by numerous public offices, courts and private attorneys. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.
Rossiter explains with great clarity why the kind of liberalism being displayed by Barack Obama can only be understood as a psychological disorder.

"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals
relentlessly undermine most principles on which our freedoms were founded," says Rossiter.

"Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave." "A social scientist that understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity - as liberals do," he says. "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population - as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over regulates and overtaxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state - as liberals do."

Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:

a. Creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
b. Satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
c. Augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
d. Rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.

"The roots of liberalism - and its associated madness - can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind," he says. "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."

I would have preferred they qualify they're broad brush strokes as "Mostly Mentally Ill" or "More Susceptible to being Mentally Ill". They of course MUST apply that same brush to some other groups, Police, Fire, Paramedics, E/R personnel, Red Cross workers, Smoke Jumpers, Air Traffic Controllers, etc... Oh, what's that? we're talking GUNS here? add to that, anyone born in the last century that watches the evening news regularly. Of course, you will notice that the people that say all vets are luny-toons, are perfectly well adjusted, red book carrying, obama butt kissing commies. And they say I'm crazy! As a vet, the "Mental Illness" thing that happens to me, usually happens when I'm asleep and at the most, it ruins my morning coffe3 and Qwa-sont or if it's a particularly bad dream, I may have to get up and hang out online or mess with the x-box. I don't own a gun. I despise the sight of them. I encourage all who want to hunt or target shoot or protect themselves or just be a collector do so. It is promised to us in our constitution that we have a right to keep and bear arms, for the establishment of a militia. the people that keep saying these things are the people the framers of the constitution were talking about. the framers also warned us about people who say REALLY STUPID things like "I have a pen and a phone" or "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor". Funny, there was a news article not long ago that said a group of Bone Dome Doctors think his majesty may be a little unhinged himself. Tit-for-Tat or just the Democratic National Committee stealing idea's again, since they NEVER have anything new to offer. Need proof? Hillary finally got that health care "plan" she worked so hard on while her hubby was out getting jiggy with the hired help !

So Democrats think all military are mentally I'll

And all Republicans think all military are homosexual

And all Libertarians think all military are murderous pedophiles and rapists

Waiting for Green party Ralph Nader to hop in. He probably thinks all military are doped stoners/heroin addicts

Funny thing is the correct answer is a percentage of all the above would be correct

Seriously...

Who gave him the credential, let alone advertising space, for the esteemed dr. to become established authority of an unqualified opinion on an unstudied topic that can't even be qualified?

Liberalism

An ideology based on beliefs of economic and personal freedom, and the fact that social inequalities are a part of nature. (Also libertarianism to the American readers.)

A definition later to be distorted by Americans, who mainly associate "liberalism" with being left-wing on the political scale, disregarding the original and correct sense of the word.

Each man is the architect of his own fortune.

Liberals

May be a weak reference... But easily solid enough to counteract to Dr. Rossiter. A person may be smart. People can be stupid. This guy + people?

I transcribed it myself:
(parenthesis mine)

If I understand this,
This adds an exemption of retired military,
As I understand our bill,
No issue has arose in this regard during the 10 years the expired ban was in effect
What we did in the other bill was,
Exempt possesion by the united states or a department or agency of the united states
So that included active military.
The problem with expanding this is that, with the advent of PTSD, which I think is
a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq war (lol)(The American Psychiatric Association first codified post-traumatic stress disorder and included it in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders III in 1980)
It's not clear how the sale or transfer covered by this bill verified that
an individual was a member or veteran, and there was no impairment of that individual
with respect to having a weapon like this, so I would be happy to sit down with you again
and see if we can work something out. But I think we have to... if you're gonna do this,
find a way that veterans who are incapacited, for one reason or another mentally
don't have access to this kind of weapon.

What she really said was COMPLETELY different from what is being repeated endlessly by the bloodthirsty right.

As a currently deployed soldier in a theatre of war she voted to send me to she can go straight to hell.

You cannot ask me and my fellow soldiers to bear the brunt of your foreign policy and then turn around and punish us for the job you told us to do.

I'm sure the entire anti-gun crowd will swallow this little gem and spit it back out as a means to disarm the very people they are most of afraid of having guns. Trained military veterans.

They are afraid of us because we are more likely than anyone else to stand up for our rights.

Edit to add:

Obviously I should have read the thread.

However Chuck Schumer along with Feinstein have gone after returning war vets gun rights in the recent past. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they did hold these beliefs.

While she is a egomaniac and believes her own press releases, she really didn't say quite what was published. Someone needed to generate a little outrage and that is why the story was published. Spin is everywhere.

What she really said is here: www.snopes.com...

What happened was that someone wanted to modify her bill banning 'assault weapons' and allow exemptions for veterans and she needed a reason why that was a bad idea, so she ginned one up on the spur of the moment. She thinks that she knows what is good for people and wants to impose her concepts on the entire country. Fortunately, that won't happen.

UNmitigated globalist witchy PROJECTION, imho.

The speaker has a chronic history of off the wall, arrogant, tyrannical spewing--particularly against "the little people."

She and hubby are evidently up to the tops of their pointed heads in corruption on a grand scale . . . yet she can't resist the evidently persistent temptation to splatter horrendously destructive nonsense all over the general populace--particularly working people, conservatives, patriots, veterans etc.

She will eventually reap what she has sown . . . though she's decades overdue . . . it WILL happen.

Veterans have always had higher than normal suicide rates than most. It's every war, and the time in between. It's just a fact of life for us, and there is no one specific reason. One reason I think it becomes easier for vets to do it than most, is because the prospect of death was always a close reality, and self inflicted death is easier to do when you have been desensitized more than most to the possibility, or have been surrounded by death and dying. My opinion, anyway.

I do not consider all suicide attempts or successes to be because the person was mentally ill. I consider suicide more a statement of the world we live in, the type of society we deem worth perpetuating, and the type of people that currently surround us. When one looks realistically how sick, twisted, cold, and self centered people are, is it any wonder that those capable of seeing it want to escape from the herd by any means necessary?

My fellow veterans, in my experience, even those deemed mentally ill, are more sane than the non-vet population. They know what reality really looks like, because we have often been thrust into it beyond our own hypnotized borders.

Yes you're right. I am a veteran and I make it a point to shake the hand and thank every veteran i see. I live in the shadow of a training center so I can be busy in Walmart lol. I also make it a point to thank the families for their sacrifice is great as well.

Every veteran, whether they served in peace time or no should be thanked. They all put their lives on the line. I get crazy hearing some people knock our veterans or our country. They should be thankful someone cared enough to put their life on the line for them. Should be thankful they live in country where they can speak their mind without getting beaten or arrested like in Russia and elsewhere.

Thank you vets I love my brother's and sisters in arms.
