Interesting, but I can't see it being any different to the joint operations they partake in now and in the past.

I just hope UKSF aren't going to get the sh1tty end of the stick.

I dont know if they will get the bad end of the stick, i think they will probably find that it will just mean they might get dragged into operations they otherwise might have avoided. I would also assume that this will be for operations that are a mutual interest to both states rather than us just blindly following the Americans around (although it will probably look like that as we have similar national security interests).

They already do. Quite a lot of Delta have come to Hereford over the years. They usually help raise the regt. pistol skills as that's one area that consistently impresses the lads.

As I said in the OP i am already very aware that their always has been a very close working relationship between the two SF communities, I know that, this article just seems to be discussing a plan to make this relationship more formal

There are an estimated 7,000 foreign fighters in Syria

That sounds abysmally low. I agree that this seems like old news re wrapped for some purpose. I wonder who would have command over the combined units?

Also, I think the Brits need to be more concerned about their own back yard. Perhaps they have finally learned that you must take the fight to these guys-guys meaning the thousands and thousands of terrorist in training the have gladly allowed in their country-without ever considering the consequences of such action.

I have often wondered about the TRUE relationship between President Obama and the British Government. I have a feeling they are not best buddies.

Yeah, on a squad level it wouldn't be much of a leap, I really can't see it working on a more formal, bigger level. Too many times national interests wouldn't overlap.

I can't imagine many yanks wanting to spend a week in a hedge in Armagh to kill a "freedom fighter" for instance.

Well he got the name of the Chancellor wrong recently, so you might be on to something with that.

It is true that in the UK we also do have some problems in NI, recently there where letter bombs sent out by a group claiming to be the IRA. However another concern is radical Islamist returning form Syria who might seek to harm other British nationals, it is a reasonable concern, the french dont call it "Lonsonstan" for nothing. The two main threats are Irish republicanism and Islamic extremism.
Is

I would agree that 7000 does seem very low, could be they were talking about westerners, I dont know, but yeah i would put the figure much higher than 7000.

I get what you're saying. Who from another country would have any interest in ambushing foriegn political dissidents like you mentioned. On the surface it would be hard to see the sas hiding in the bushes waiting to arrest or kill some Mississippi klansmen.

That being said on a deeper level all of these men. Sas , sbs, seal etc are not just warriors but hunters. Stalking your target then setting a trap to get your kill is second nation and an actual desire of theirs. If the USA doesn't have any work for a seal to get practice and keep his "knives" sharp then I'm sure they won't mind doing it for someone thy trust and respect like the Brits.

Also since what you had mentioned us really just a type of hunting don't forget that's America's bag. We're better at that outdoor stuff in general since we still actually have an outdoors and vast forests and terrains to indulge on. Americans love to hunt and do so recreationally more than any British. Hell Americans are even allowed to be raised around guns learning to stalk, track , hunt and trap/ ambush prey from childhood growing up. Entire communities like this. So dont think that the average seal or green beret would mind helping the sas hunt down their domestic terrorists. They would probably fancy it. At least they would be deployed to the uk and not some crap hole like Afghanistan. Beer, good looking friendly broads, intelligent sophisticated people. Yeah most in the sf community would enjoy working with the sas in the uk as opposed to in some third world dust bowl.

And yes I know the sas are VERY good at the outdoors stuff. Yes I know the us got a reality check on how to do the outdoors stuff from the sas and other European sf communities. But keep in mind the sas were taught their outdoors craft and survival skills by local jungle villagers in java, Sumatra, Malaysia and the island of Borneo. They then passed their organized way of teaching it to their sf soldiers on to delta. But the us military was also well versed in those same tactics because we learned them from the Native American Indian population.

Hell ill admit it. I've enjoyed the uk each time I've visited. Plenty of great conversations over plenty of great beer. The women are friendlier too in general. All in all I could think of worst places to visit. A lot of worse places.

You are correct. The Government has taken into account a manifesto produced by British General Peter Wall and other high ranking American officials who have formed a special "Wet Operations" unit called "Special Boat Squadron" This will be made up of SAS Boat troop members, Special Boat Service Members, US Navy seals and US Delta force. This band of Elite Maritime specialists making up the "squadron " are to be known as "Delta Seals".
This was originally a government public relations idea from think tanks trying to come up with ideas of how to end competitive rifts between the special forces. As it is paramount that all allied forces are harmonious to be successful, the original plan was to be only a British project between SBS and SAS. Now the US will be involved and all training tactics and secrets will be shared in order to make the most elite marine unit the world has ever seen.
Lets face it, we need it !
