Another shocking after-effect of the PPACA which creates a tax on specific medical devices.

Now it seems the industry that manufactures medical devices subject to a new tax will be cutting back on workers and hours as well as possible production. Those companies may also be sending work to foreign countries.

An industry survey was conducted by the Advanced Medical Technology Association.

Very alarming indeed.

ObamaCare tax cost 33,000 jobs, medical trade group says

A new ObamaCare tax on medical devices has already resulted in the loss of about 33,000 jobs in the industry, according to a prominent health-care trade association.

The grim statistic negates claims this week by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that “there is absolutely no evidence . . . that there is any job loss related to the Affordable Care Act.”

The Advanced Medical Technology Association surveyed its members to determine the number of lost jobs since the 2.3 percent excise tax on medical devices took effect in January 2013, raising about $3.8 billion a year to help pay for ObamaCare.

This "Tax" needs to be Repealed?

She is only talking about herself there since the incompetent roll out of that super duper wonderful healthcare that no one is signing up for.

There is tons of evidence, but we all know the current administration, and it's cronies live in the land called DENIAL.!

No surprise there. And what do we get from our wonderful leader when the people complain?

Hell meet hand basket. This is going to go down as one of the biggest failures of our time if something isn't done soon.

Not exactly an exhaustive survey.

From the study itself....

As noted above, the survey was conducted electronically between November 14 and December 9, 2013. The survey was sent to every AdvaMed company. The thirty-eight responding companies accounted for approximately 40% of the domestic sales revenues of AdvaMed members and approximately 15% of member companies.

Only 15% of their own members could be bothered to reply.

Sixty percent of the respondents were currently operating at a profit, while 40% were not

40% of respondents weren't even turning a profit before the Tax so how many jobs were they cutting then?
Impact of the Medical Device Excise Tax Fact sheet

But who is AdavMed, the author of the study?

AdvaMed advocates on a global basis for....economic policies that reward value creation.

So, a study by Lobbyists. Well I believe them.

Oh!

Like those who couldn't be bothered to sign up for Obamacare ?

Is that what you mean?

Oh wait less than 15% bothered to 'reply'.

Which means more things.

1) they knew the tax was taking effect in 2014.

2) they took steps when any relief legislation failed.

3) it's worse than the survey indicates.

I imagine all that is viewed as a necessary sacrifice for the support of the general concepts.

4) It's a study by a Lobbying group, so is going to try any and all tactics to lower Taxes for its members.

Would you pay a Lobbyist unless it was doing all in its power to lower your Taxes including, but not limited to, wonky studies?

OK what's the problem here anyway?
33,000 people lose their jobs - Check
    30,000 - 33,000 of them probably can't find new jobs - Check
Unemployment runs out for all of them - Check
33,000 new enrollments into MediCaid - Check

Mission accomplished!

Why is it, whenever some report about how Obamacare is bad, if you do even a little bit of research on the "report", it is false, typically tied back to some giant lobby or corporate sponsor. It makes me realize that the ACA must be awesome if every issue being raised is a lie, distortion, or misinformed panic.

I am honestly waiting for the "Report finds that smoking makes you healthier" article to appear here with many chiming in saying it is totally true because the tobacco lobbyists said so.
