The head of the protesters' medical service said 100 people died and 500 were injured in clashes on Thursday, just hours after the government declared a truce in fighting that had shocked world leaders with the deaths of 28 people two days before.

And where are the progressive governments of the world? Where are the democracy leading countries of the world? Why are they not doing anything as they did in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia and lately Siria? Because there are no interests involved and because russians are right at the door. Damn hypocrites and liars.

Just the perfect example for the world to see that at the end nobody cares for the body count. Every action taken is a political show and a behind the scene deal for certain interests.

Shame!!!

It's really bad over there -- and most people I talk to in my daily life haven't got a clue. People are more worried about the newest season of "The Voice" or what Olympic sport is on that evening.

even worse than the people who don't know anything about the crisis in the Ukraine, people who think they know. I heard people say things like:

"the Ukrainians should just go home. all this to join the European Union? Puttin should just roll in there and set them straight."

I've heard things like this. so I ask for them to support their statements and none could give me a reasoned response.

I should be shocked.... but I'm not.

Yes, the protest started after the government`s U-turn from the EU agreement. But on November 30th night the group of approx. 500 protesters had been attacked by Ukrainian SWAT named Berkut with unprecendented cruelty. So now we are protesting against our corrupted government. The peace-loving progressive governments of the world murdered 262 million of their own people just last century, so just give them some time. I think you will be duly impressed with their efficiency on such matters.

Don't worry about the Ukrainians. They'll all be safe as long as they agree with the government.

As we let our own bought and paid for government overlords wield ever increasing power over us, people in the Ukraine and Venezuela want nothing else to do with the smothering, stifling, socialist ghosts of their pasts.

We in the West think we're just oh so politically wonky and smart and superior, history be damned! "We will do socialism the right way!"

At least these people know what they've been missing for awhile. The Ukraine has tasted freedom again and doesn't want to slide back into the lap of Russia, and the Venezuelan people have had freedom recently enough to remember that more freedom was much better than being dictated to by a government overlord who answers to no one. Some of them are willing to die for freedom now, and even kill for it and kidnap and probably eventually torture for it, and be kidnapped and tortured and murdered themselves for it. Freedom: It makes people do crazy stuff.

I just could never figure out why common people who oppose more individual freedom, would be inclined to fight just as mercilessly for the chance to GIVE UP freedoms. A curous lot, they are, to me. I guess it comes down to food on the table for most, and probably the best reason there can be. Hunger: It makes people do crazy stuff. Unfortunately, hunger is a tremendous motivating force to "join up" with people who maybe don't mean you too much goodwill in the long run, but who can always use plenty more "useful idiots"(Vlad Lenin's term for the people who fought for him and believed in the sincerity of his "cause." lol).

now, when ukraine wants to give EU a finger, they do what they're doing everywhere else, together with the mighty USA. stir up internal conflicts, support 'the oposition', then blame the democratic government for trying to clean up the mess they've created.

you're talking about syria? how about all those voices saying that assad just defends his country from CIA-sponsored terrorists?
how about libya? egypt? so many lessons and you still have no clue.

EU is poking the bear though. mark my words, when russia will get involved, things will get very messy.
