I am a foriegn student in a western Ukrainian city. Situation is going from bad to worse. Airports and other transport is being stopped.
Could someone please advice me on how I can talk to border guards at the Polish-Ukrainian border. I do not have a Polish or European visa.
Should I ask the border guards to take me to my embassy, should I ask for refugee status or asylum?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Regards

Honestly after Syria and Libya i no longer believe what these users say. As they have an agenda. When you try to debate with them or reason them.

They will ignore you.

Can you get to your Embassy in the Ukraine. That is your best choice.

If you cannot get there, ring them, do it right now!

They are in the best position to tell you how to safely exit the country.

Anyways:

Radicals are blocking the checkpoints at the Ukrainian border, the country’s border control said, as quoted by Interfax news agency. In particular, about 40 people blocked the road near the Ukrainian-Polish border, placing tires and other objects to interfere with the passing of vehicles.

eta: if they're not answering, are there any consular office of your country near you?

I would set up a twitter account, and post live updates and explain your situation.

Something like : stranded in Kiev; can't reach my embassy... < drama drama>

If you gey enough attention, your bound to get noticed and get help/called.

Honestly no joke, use some social media to get help.

this is the best advice.

No one is going to give you better info on your question than those guys, dont do anything stupid and seek their council and you will be just fine.

Dont do anything anyone tells you unless its the embassy, you could very easily find yourself in international trouble by going by random peoples advice.

Since your embassy doesn't answer I would call my home country, some official there to advise you and help you.

They may have a plane loading as we type….

Then ring the closest embassy in a neighboring country, try Poland. Otherwise email them or ring the relevant department in your own country, State Department, Foreign Affairs etc.
