Yeah, lets keep on using words like For and by the people. This was a coup, and really do you honestly believe this extreme right wing will just leave it at that? Go home go back to work?

These people have had a taste of war and you can bet you *** on it they enjoyed this all out street-war. We are talking about some neo-nazi scumm. ( Not all of them but the aggresive core is ).

Nothing good will come of this, and I suspect Russia will be taking actions towards us Europeans soon enough.

What a great stupidity.
There are bunch of people who went to Yanukovich mansion and nearby storage where Yanukovich kept his boats and other vehichles. they found bunch of papers how much he has spent to purchasing all. Some seemed to document some papers but a lot of papers have been throwed on the water. Documents of corruption should be saved not treated like this

There is live stream whats going on there and they are approaching the mansion itself

Feb. 22, 1:44 p.m. Svoboda Pary's opposition leader Oleh Tiahynbok suggests the Verkhovna Rada needs to vote to remove President Viktor Yanukovych from power today and also to disband the Berkut riot-police officer and form a "new, truly patriotic structure" that will defend people. Parliament voted to take a break and resume their work at 4 p.m. today -- Katya Gorchinskaya

Here's your beloved leader of the opposition. A "new, truly patriotic structure" that will defend people. Basically means what the Nazis did in Germany before WW2.

He is by no means the beloved leader, but a opportunistic politician.
The people know better, they want Viktor Yanukovych to be removed from power, Oleh Tiahynbok just says and repeat what the people want to hear.

they've already released yulia tymoshenko.
and asked the citizens to help the police in protecting the order (basically giving all those right-wing fanatics a mandate to do what they like).

if they really think yanukovych will leave it at that and that russia will just sit back and watch, well.
they'll be surprised.

don't be mistaken, people. this will lead to a war.

Ukraine president exits Kiev; protesters take over

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Protesters took control of Ukraine's capital on Saturday, seizing the president's office as parliament sought to oust him and form a new government. An aide to President Viktor Yanukovych said he had left Kiev for his support base in the country's Russian-speaking east, but that he has no intention of abandoning power.

......Thread update......

Opposition takes control of presidential compound as Viktor Yanukovych 'flees Kiev'

Ukraine's opposition on Saturday pushed for Viktor Yanukovych's resignation as protesters seized the presidential residence and offices and the embattled leader appeared to have fled Kiev.

Allies of the jailed former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko were appointed as parliamentary speaker and interim interior minister, as a revolution seemed to be gathering pace following days of bloody clashes. But earlier reports of Ms Tymoshenko's release from jail proved premature as aides said she remained in prison.

Parliament debated an opposition resolution calling for the resignation of Mr Yanukovych, who disappeared from public view on Saturday, abandoning the presidential administration building and his residence just outside Kiev. Meanwhile the country's police announced they stood "with the people" and wanted "rapid changes".

The government, still led by an ally of Mr Yanukovych, said it would ensure a smooth handover of power to a new administration. But the moves incensed authorities in eastern, Russian-speaking regions loyal to the president, which challenged the parliament's legitimacy and said they were taking full control of their territories.

There's always been that DICHOTOMY, The Eastern part is more "Russian", both in politics and in ethnicity. It really wouldn't surprise me if they split.......It would REALLY SURPRISE me if Putin lets that happen.

Call me silly, but a man who imprisons a Women in a Band named Pussy Riot, probably won't like losing his next door neighbor and ally.

Time to see his true colors.............

Maybe he just means Ukraine for Ukrainians instead of Russians??????? Russia has tried to keep Ukraine in it's orbit, against the wishes of many in Ukraine.

There is very bad blood due to what Papa Joe did to them......you don't forget that.

The Ukrainian Genocide Famine (Holodomor)
is one of the least known tragedies of the 20th century...

At the height of the Genocide Ukrainians were dying at a rate of 25,000 per day.

Nearly 1 in 4 rural Ukrainians perished as a direct result.

The Soviet Union dumped 1.7 million tons of grain on Western markets during the Genocide.
Nearly a fifth of a ton of grain was exported for each person who died of starvation.

Over 3,000,000 children born between 1932-1933 died of starvation.

The US Congress 1988 Commission on the Ukraine Famine concluded:
"Joseph Stalin and those around him committed genocide against Ukrainians in 1932-1933".

There were over 10,000,000 victims of the Ukrainian Genocide of 1932-1933

Radislaw Sikorski, the Polish foreign minister, has said there was no coup in Kiev and that the actions of parliament are legal.

He was speaking after his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, had contacted him to express his concern over the events in Kiev.

Lavrov said:

The opposition not only has failed to fulfil a single one of its obligations but is already presenting new demands all the time, following the lead of armed extremists and pogromists whose actions pose a direct threat to Ukraine’s sovereignty and constitutional order.

It’s time to stop misleading the international public opinion and pretending that the Maidan represents the interests of the Ukrainian nation.”

While the US condemns the actions of Ukraine officials, imagine the bloodshed and deaths of civilians that would be inflicted if such an event occurred in Washington, DC...

Yet again, a US President's words are nothing more than hypocrisy as the video below illustrates:

Ukrainians are basically Russians and Ukraine wouldn't even exist today if it weren't for the Russians.

Russia has tried to keep Ukraine in it's orbit, against the wishes of many in Ukraine.

And America has being trying to take over all over the Global since the date birth of its creation. The Past Wars are further proof enough.
