However, one thing that disturbs me here is the involvement of DHS. What they hell are they doing in this case? I thought they were there for terrorist threats and the like. Internal interstate criminal activity like this has always been the realm of the FBI.

So is this bozo on terror watch lists for some reason? If so....why?

DHS is not just about terrorism. DHS is the parent department of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE). As the name implies, one of ICE's main missions is immigration. However, customs enforcement is also one of its missions. As a part of customs enforcement, ICE has jusisdiction over internet trade, because internet trade is global. One really bad part of the global internet trade is child predators.

ICE is part of the Virtual Global Task Force, which includes 48 foreign countries around the world. ICE works with those other countries in tracking down and stopping internet predators.

Ok if this man is a child predator and not one single major news network reports this it will make it all the more crazy and make me think the government is smearing people to hide aline cover up.I remain very skeptical of Mr.Romanek though.

People trafficing in internet child pornography are arrested on a daily basis, and it takes busting a MAJOR porno ring to make MAJOR news networks. If they reported on every bust, they wouldn't have time for any other news.

What is it about people that make them seems to want to find 'railroading' excuses for child predators? And why such lenient sentences?
Last night on the local news, a 46 year old man plea bargained down from 42 counts of exploitation and sexual misconduct with minors under 16, to 4 counts of misconduct with a minor. The prosecution recommended a reduced sentence of 2-12 years; the judge gave him 6-12 months PROBATION.

Nobody seems to want to accept the fact they they might not be the best judge of character, and that sweet old man next door just may be a CHOMO, with a lifetime of victims.

The guy's history tends to make 'railroading' by law enforcement unlikely, IMO.

I'm not sure if this is story is worthy of a major news network. People get arrested for child porn all the time without making the news. Granted, Stan Romanek is a little (very little) more "known" than the average alleged predator, but I don't think his very slight notoriety is enough to make major news outlets really care about his arrest.

It could make for a minor article in some print/online newspapers (one of those minor one- or two-paragraph stories deep inside a newspaper), but that might only be because of his slight "infamy" he gained due to the way he handled his peek-a-boo alien encounter.

Well it depends how serious this is if he abused children and raped or molested any of them He is a nut.Let alone the alien stories.People show up to His lectures about aliens.Might abuse one of their kids or molest them.I would like to see if His kids where ever abused or molested by Him.Maybe it will come out.If not then this may be a smear campaign to get the small following to stop believeing Him.

Agreed. Usually only really big names are going to make MSM, I think we have seen the biggest "MSM" this is going to hit. Feom here on, it will be forum chatter and the like.

Again, people are arrested for raping and molesting children all the time -- I bet there are several people arrested everyday for this. We don't see stories about these other people gettimng areested, so I can't imagine there would be a reason for Romanek's arrest making the network news. He is just (allegedly) another child predator.

I'm not sure about all the charges against Romanek, but in general, I guess we can say it is a shame that people who rape and molest children are so common that they don't necessarily make the news...well, maybe the local 11 o'clock news and the local newspaper, but not much more than that. However, that's the way it is; it has become all too commonplace.

Well.the local news where he lives will end up reporting this if He is has molested children or whatnot.They all ready reported the arrest so we will have to just wait and see what comes from this.
