Did the cops bust in to an old guys house and kill him on the whim of a drug report or what. What gave them the idea this guy had drugs on his property in the first place.

Cops could be used as hitmen. Call the DEA and report someone for drugs on their property. Bye Bye neighbour from hell.

This should not be allowed to happen. They should monitor the property and gain intel on the occupants before even thinking about going in with a armed to teeth tactical unit.

The supervisors and top brass should be prosecuted for this as they are responsible for passing the intel onto the boots on the ground. The cops on the ground are ready for anything and always expect the worst suggesting that they really dont rely upon intel gathered prior to a bust.

What I find amazing is how do they find so many orphans to brainwash and train for these positions?

I can't see how anyone that has loving parents, children or significant others, would allow these powder kegs to remain on the force. It is just a matter of time before one of their family comes within shooting distance of one of these corrupt psychos.

To answer your question, the cops familyis not who should protected here. It is the community as a whole that should be protected.

If a cop makes a mistake he should not be encouraged to cover it up, lie and incriminate an innocent person falsely.

They obtained a search warrant based on meth related smells a deputy experienced. So perhaps a lesson here is to use plenty of FeBreze or you too could become a victim of a militarized drug raid.

“The deputies were executing a search warrant based on clearly false information; one prepared by an “expert deputy” who had during a purported surveillance, smelled meth chemicals for “four days” coming from Mallory’s home and that he concluded that the home was a clandestine methamphetamine lab,” court documents stated.

When a coroner arrived, he found the loaded .22 caliber pistol the two deputies claimed Mallory had pointed at them on the bedside table.

Possible he had a ton of cats too. That's what a meth lab smells like, lots of cat piss. Also, if “expert deputy” could smell the anhydrous ammonia, he'd be in the hospital.

Acetone is commonly mistaken as meth lab also.

Good question. Are any of us who dabble with home improvements or crafts that might cause a chemical smell now open to middle-of-night raids by police who shoot first and lie about it later? Are we in mortal danger from the police while just going about our innocent daily business?

A simple knock-and-talk could maybe have cleared up any questions or doubts and probably saved a man's life. Police state, We must now count on being victimized by our authorities. This is the age of the American Nightmare.

You guys miss the point..."I smelled something" should be inadmissable as evidence. It's not only totally subjective, you can say whatever you feel like i.e. testilie because there's no examinable evidence to refute.

It assumes the cop is even halfway telling the truth. And in cases where they screwed the pooch this bad, you have to wonder if something wasn't going on with the cops and this guy. Maybe there was some bad blood and they decided 'they smelled something' to dole out some retribution.
