As you may recall, we tend to reserve the "pure gold" descriptor for uniquely egregious instances of Obama hypocrisy. This one surely qualifies. American Commitment clips a stump speech snippet from 2008 presidential candidate Barack Obama, scrupulous defender of our constitutional structure, and righteous critic of executive power grabs. Behold:

townhall.com...

“I taught constitutional law for ten years. I take the Constitution very seriously. The biggest problems that were facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all, and that’s what I intend to reverse when I’m President of the United States of America.”

Senator Barrack Obama.

Really what can one even say to this BLATANT cognitive dissonance ?

What can you even say at this point? Here is a man who, as a lame duck president, is openly vowing to thwart, ignore, and bypass Congress whenever possible. Here is a man whose administration has made more than two dozen on-the-fly changes to a law duly passed by Congress, without offering even the faintest sniff of a compelling legal justification for some of the most brazen alterations.

There is a man who thinks his own snip doesn't stink, and neither do his defenders.

Oh how I so wish that Obama would be held to the standards that were set for ole GWB.

'Constitutional lawyer' ?

What did he get his degree on the 'internets' ?

It's all in the details right? Did he say he was going to reverse the trend that Bush started or Constitutional Law?

I like where you're going with this post. Obama is the ultimate politician, and his speech writers are very clever. He sells you one thing, every-one gets all hyped up, but if you read between the lines he is telling you the exact opposite.

Hope we can change things before he declares himself emperor... If he hasn't already.

His speechwriters must be masters of sarcasm and irony to pen such a compelling parody of today's government... wait... he was being serious? Like really serious?

That's probably the reason behind him studying constitutional law from the get go, so he'll know how to side step it

He believes that he can say one thing and yet do the total opposite and no one is the wiser

God that man is delusional
Talk about needing 'mental' help

Not even a 'smidgeon of corruption', eh???
His whole administration is FULL of corruption

He is held to the same standards as GWB hence the problem.
Democrats overlook their politicians actions and lies just like the republicans overlook their candidates actions and lies.

People don't care about political ideology anymore they care about having the lesser evil which is apparently a guy that tells you what you want to hear.

Oh Bush couldn't pass gas without MSM complaining about a sudden increase in air pollution and a finger to the source. Obama gets a free pass on things where people have literally died under or a level beneath his own direct command. It's been quite a thing to see....and Republicans turned on Bush pretty seriously in his second term too. I was among them, so certainly do recall the hard feelings starting to develop in 06/07. By 08, he'd turned outright socialist on us, nationalizing things in plain sight.

Now bail outs are almost accepted as a given when necessary, under that new, softer name.

I don't disagree but Isn't foxnews MSM? So does it matter how much of a pass CNN,MSNBC,and HLN give Obama when Foxnews beats all their ratings combined? Lets not even include the DrudgeReport republican outlet that kills them all.

Fox News Ends Year With Higher Ratings Than MSNBC, CNN and HLN Combined
newsbusters.org...
www.businessinsider.com...

They all get free passes from the MSM it just depends what party and MSM station you prefer, that is the problem. Their is no news its just marketing and they cover both sides of the spectrum to get 100% return on their investments. The real commercials is not during the break its during the MSM Show.

06/07. By 08, he'd turned outright socialist on us, nationalizing things in plain sight

Then what does the GOP do? They find the most liberal socialist candidate based on previous actions to lead their party and one of the pioneers of Obamacare with RomneyCare.

BTW I'm no Obama fan and believe that republicans ideals are better suited than democrat ideals during this time of rampant corruption in congress.

However part of the problem is the republican party does the exact opposite of its ideals and individual republicans prefer to point the finger at the democrats when their party has been clearly hijacked. The MSM bit is a cop out and excuse to overlook their own mess.

Yes, and in 2012 he sighed the Biggie!

President Obama has made clear that he’s determined to continue pushing his “progressive” agenda, regardless of constitutional limitations on his power. He aims to have his way by issuing more and more executive orders.

The most ominous sign of possible things to come appeared on March 16, 2012, when President Obama signed executive order 13603 about “National Defense Resources Preparedness.”

This 10-page document is a blueprint for a federal takeover of the economy that would dwarf the looming Obamacare takeover of the health insurance business. Specifically, Obama’s plan involves seizing control of:

* “All commodities and products that are capable of being ingested by either human beings or animals”

* “All forms of energy”

* “All forms of civil transportation”

* “All usable water from all sources”

* “Health resources – drugs, biological products, medical devices, materials, facilities, health supplies, services and equipment”

* Forced labor ( or “induction” as the executive order delicately refers to military conscription)

Moreover, federal officials would “issue regulations to prioritize and allocate resources.”

Each government bureaucracy “shall act as necessary and appropriate.”

But more than previous national security executive orders, Obama’s 13603 seems to describe a potentially totalitarian regime obsessed with control over everything. Obama’s executive order makes no effort to justify the destruction of liberty, no effort to explain how amassing totalitarian control would enable government to deal effectively with cyber sabotage, suicide bombings, chemical warfare, nuclear missiles or other possible threats. It’s quite likely there would be greater difficulty responding to threats, since totalitarian regimes suffer from economic chaos, colossal waste, massive corruption and bureaucratic infighting that are inevitable consequences of extreme centralization. Such problems plagued fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, communist China and other regimes. Totalitarian control would probably trigger resistance movements and underground networks like those that developed in Western Europe during the Nazi occupation. Totalitarian control could provoke more political turmoil than there was in the Vietnam War era of the 1960s. There would probably be a serious brain drain as talented people with critical skills escaped to freedom wherever that might be. Canada?

There’s nothing in executive order 13603 about upholding the Constitution or protecting civil liberties.

Now Ponder This,,, Statement!

Even if Obama’s 13603 were no different than previous national security executive orders, it’s more worrisome because it was issued by the president who rammed Obamacare and runaway spending bills through Congress, who racked up $5 trillion of debt and surrounded himself with hardcore “progressives” hostile to the private sector and America as we have known it.

Obama's Plan to Sieze Control

Think about it, this give Obama and his Designated Cabinet and Agency Heads the authority to commandeer and control, all water, all human and animal food, all transportation, all energy, all construction materials, all “health resources,” all farm equipment, all fertilizers, all fuels and much more.
Think about it, You want those Chicago Thugs, in Control of Your and your families well being?

167 Total Executive orders Issued by Obama and still counting. The lesser of two evil does not exist because it's all pure and utterly evil. Let's bash each other so it looks good for the ignorant while we take the rest of your rights away. Government needs to be checked yesterday. Even if those EO's are of good intent, they will lead to hell sometime in the future because someone will abuse it. I see a dictator in the future and my crystal ball has been broke for twenty years. The time frame is questionable but the groundwork is being paved.

Ask him why he wrote those executive orders and I mean all of them. I want to see him squirm.

a no brainer...

Classic case of listening in on opponents transgressions, than promise the opposite, and once in power...do the same.
This is almost a default political policy and not a surprise anymore, I hope.

And you eat it up like soup...easy.

To the voting boxes !!!!!

There is no doubt that this President qualifies for impeachment right now. The only thing stopping it from happening is the weak Congress who are beholden to the same masters as Obama. He has lied to the American public intentionally, not for National Security, but for propaganda, political posturing and to cover his sacrilege of the Executive office.

It wouldn't matter if they impeached him anyway, it wouldn't do a damn bit of good without impeaching the rest of them too.

We complained about Bush now we complain about Obama, but the trend is clear and we are been subjected to the new trend on what we call politics and political leaders, they are becoming fearless when against the anger of the voters and tax payers, obviously is not longer the desired to show the government who is in charge by the majority of voters as they still have faith on the political system

If you think Bush was bad because it helped open the door to corruption and government disregard of the checks and balances, now we got Obama that have the door wide to the same disregard of checks and balances and more, now congress is under attack, as usual people tend to forget who elected congress to change the balances of power when the majority is not happy with what the present administrations in any given time is doing, now wait for the next president that will have an open door thanks to those presidents before him to do as it wish, congress will be nullified in the next few decades, the voice of the people will be shut down.

But then again congress stop working for the people a long time ago, thanks to the corporate private interest that have been investing on them.

You are not the only one yelling about it either. People are waking up to the truth and some are speculating as to why things are the way they are. Everyone is in turmoil and looking at each other and not holding anyone accountable. Divide and conquer is old as time and still works in the new millennium. I'll opt out and watch everyone kill each other one day. It'll be better than television that is for damned sure. Front row seats to the freak show. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and one day we will find out. I tend not to dwell on things I cannot change but that is my two cents worth (only worth .00002 now).

Bush did not get a pass, he had not only Democrat opposition, but Libertarians and Tea Party some of which are Republican.

Obama is something else. The Democrats are locked step zombies. It's kind of creepy. Almost as if they are all in some sort of voodoo trance by towing the line.

Never said that Bush got a pass , but neither is Obama. Does Foxnews give Obama a pass?

Keep in mind that Foxnews has more viewers than CNN.MSNBC, and HLN combined. Therefore more people are hearing and paying attention to the crappy Job Obama is doing by FOx News than the liberal media when they attacked Bush. Dont't forget about the DrudgeReport who has more viewer than all off them together and leans very republican.

The reason the libertarians are against the republican is because they have realized that their is no difference between the two parties when you look at actions and not promises. The tea party I think is also realizing this.

That is no different than the republicans being locked step zombies with Romney.

Romney could have been the perfect vice president for Obama with his real track record (not what he claims is for).

The GOP hated obamacare so much and then they go and get the only guy who had actually implemented its predecessor Romenycare? Not only implemented it, but believed gov;t mandated healthcare was the right solution for MA under the guise of state rights. Yet when it comes to GMO making it illegal for States to label GMO products he goes silent on his stance.

How does a republican ever believe that gov;t mandated healthcare is the right solution?

Obama has the FEWEST executive orders to date, of any administration. Reagan and Bush issued MORE.

Yet the right-wing calls Obama a tyrant for issuing executive orders.

What makes this funny, neither Reagan nor Bush had to deal with an obstructionist do-nothing Congress the way Obama has.

President Obama Has Issued Fewer Executive Orders Than Any President in Over 100 Years

Obama Has Issued Fewer Executive Orders Than 5 Republican Presidents Before Him

Republicans weren't locked step with Romney. U forget there is the Ron Paul movement that was just as big as the establishment crowed. Perhaps bigger. If they were locked step zombies. Romney would have won. Obviously a lot of conservatives did not vote.

The GOP who picks (markets/PR) the pool of candidates for Republicans to choose from was locked step with Romney. So much so that the GOP attacked their own (Ron Paul) even worse than the democrats.

They did everything in their power to ensure that everone including republicans viewed Ron Paul as an extremist and radical. All this despite Ron Paul having the biggest grass roots efforts. Why do you suppose they didn't want him elected. I tell you why , his voting record match what the republicans say they wan't. He actually voted for smaller gov't presence which neither the GOP or DNC want. Smaller gov't causes them and the lobbyist to loose power and put more power in the consumers hand.
