There's a good chance the mods may move this but I believe it relates to survival so here it is. This is directly relevant to our UK members who may want to pool their money for the purchase of an ATS members hidden nuclear bunker. I know it's the Daily Mail but if I was over there in the UK would definitely want to at least take a look.

Yours for £50,000! Secret underground nuclear bunker built during Cold War goes on market
    - Bunker was built in 1978, at the height of the Cold War
    - Water supplies and sewerage operations managed from the bunker
    - The only hint of life below the surface is a discreet brick entrance building
    - 3,000 square foot bunker is to be auctioned with a £50,000 guide price

A secret underground bunker built to protect essential services in the event of a nuclear war is to go under the hammer. The bunker, which was constructed in Coswarth in Cornwall at the height of the Cold War, was built so experts at the then South West Water Authority would be able to maintain water and sewerage operations during a nuclear emergency.

The 3,000 square foot bunker, built in 1978 to house 16 people - seven in the operations room, six in the communications room and three in the control room, has a guide price of £50,000.

So, what do you say UK, any interest at all. Seems like a steal as long as the price doesn't go up to high. Probably will but still looks pretty cool to me. You never know when you'll need a bunker.

Not bad for £50k. I'd put up huge tv screens around the walls and change the 'views from my windows' every day.

There's many of those buildings of similar design dotted around the country., I never knew that was what they were, or could be.

Was wondering that too.
Excuse me sir, can I please get some financing for my nuclear bunker?

And the great thing is, if we ever had a true SHTF you wouldn't need to pay it off.

I have a problem with the blast doors opening OUTWARD.

I mean, even the slightest amount of rubble or debris outside of the door = instant tomb.

A 50 cent rubber door stop could seal everyone inside forever.

Any underground bunker worth consideration should have doors that open inward, toward the progressively more protected heart of the bunker, that way, any obstructions in the way of opening the door can be cleared.

It's a little sad if someone can kill everyone taking shelter inside such a place with 1 slim dollar's worth of rubber.

Any questions?

Look at the floor plan again.

Top left entrance/exit

Bottom right entrance/exit.

Government bunkers always have more than one way to get in/out.

That's why I said $1.

1 50 cent door jamb at the NW door, and 1 50 cent door jamb at the SE door.

Done.

Everyone inside is stuck and starves to death.

I have defeated you bunker with one dollar.
All your base is belong to us!

If I wanted to get really serious, I could lean a chair against each door.

Consider a real disaster that could equate to hundreds of pounds of rubble blocking both doors, and you can't clear it.
That's why doors need open INWARD, so, any obstructions can be cleared by those trapped inside.

It doesn't matter how many entrances and exits there are if they all get blocked and are impossible to clear since the obstructions prevent any door from even opening to allow clearance.

Alice, you can't halt progress or overcome our bunker technology with two .50 cent door stops. We always have a secret trapdoor way out.

However in agreement with your logic I will make my trapdoor open inwards. Plus in the UK bunker we will now bring no other people inside but bring 14 cows and eat them if you stop the doors with a chair.

I think it would make a good house. Make it look like a brick cottage outside, a quaint little roof and covered porch.

Ah, London. I know where that is.
(Actually lived there a long time ago.)

So we could call this thing "The ATS Cornwall Bunker Complex." ATS could broadcast ATSLive Radio from there.
