The Choice of the Female Eagle (Feb2014)

As with Chaucer’s ‘The Parliament of Fowls’ on Valentine’s Day
Where three male eagles engage in a debate to seduce one female eagle for a lifetime mate
But when the bright sun in this Eden-like landscape exposed the ugliness of their insults
The female eagle chose none.

She longed to be swept away by the intense rapture of two true hearts, but found none.

She pined for a soul mate to soar high in a lover’s intertwined ecstasy, but found none.

She retreated back to Venus’ dark temple and wept and watched as the Spring slowly crept in.

There were none to choose, alas, another barren, bitter Spring.

Yes, there is always hope at the next Spring's debate where perhaps one male eagle will romance her and not enter the vicious debate.
