I'm going with real.

It's definitely something large, reflective and moving towards the moon.

Great catch, love it. Better than the usual blurry rubbish. Actually very interesting.

Thanks.

I hate to sound stupid, but a Lunar Occultation would mean the Moon is eclipsing/passing between the viewer and a star/planet right?

How is that possible here, because you can clearly see the dark/night area of the Moon behind the object, which would mean the object is between the camera and the Moon, right?

This was a particular case. A grazing occultation.

Here the star will appear to pass along a line just touching (or tangent to) the edge of the Moon, and the star will disappear and reappear among the mountains and valleys along the Moon's edge for a period of a few minutes. Such a grazing occultation is a spectacular sight; at no other time, except perhaps during a solar eclipse, is the Moon's motion more apparent.

The area you are seeing as the dark/night area is the field of view of the telescope, not the disk of the Moon.

How often have you seen a phase of the moon that looks like this?

Try this video:
www.youtube.com...
The one you're looking at has been rotated, it would seem.

And this one I brightened a bit:

As I said, what you are calling the night area of the Moon is not. It is the field of view of the telescope.
The field of view is circular, that is what you are outlining.

Oh okay, thanks, I see what you're saying now and that does make the most sense.

Good work, gang!

That's not a star it's the Tyron Corporation's Defcon5 MRP-6F defense tower. It protects the mining installation from hostile alien attack with it's laser turret, photo emitter arrays, and electron gauss cannon. It's large compound sits located around the top edge peak of a crater in which mining operations take place.

It is ON the curvature of the surface...do you not see that? It is literally on the edge of the moon. The lit area you see isn't the edge of the moon, you can sometimes make out the horizon when the camera focuses correctly. To me it looks like a star peaking around.

edit: NM, finally got to Phage's post. Nail on head.

Hard to believe such videos

Ok for one thing, the moon isn't going to rotate relative to our perspective, so we can throw that out. The lighting, within the span of the video, doesn't change either. The 'object' most certainly changes position relative to the moon. All you have to do is scrub the video from close to the beginning to close to the end and you can clearly see that the 'object' is pretty far from the large crater, then ends up close to the crater. All while the moon doesn't change position with its rotation, and the lighting doesn't change either.. That isn't a mountain peak and anyone with eyes should be able to see it's moving separate from the moon if you go back and forth within the timeline. What is it? Who knows. This video is a lot more interesting than all the craptastic UFO videos out there though. Certainly doesn't look faked.

Hey OP don't get out much do you? Debunked in 2012.

Sounds like you're the one not getting out much.

ETA:

Whew. I'm glad no one realized it was the spaceship this llama rode in on.

UFO's are real. We know this. But this is a star. Nothing more. Nothing less.

A grazing occultation...of what star? Seriously, man, you are going to need a star of appropriate magnitude for that story to work. And, after a quick check...there were no bright stars near the moon on that night.

So...what star what was that?

It was a star as I am up late in Australia and am constantly watching the moon go east to west. I see stars in the background that will be either near moon or blocked by the moon.

around this video was shot their was a few stars that the moon would of passed.

Nothing more than a star...

This one.

UH...huh...

So what is the translation of "668SK0"...you know, perhaps a "HIP" id...something that might cross reference to a stellar database...
