You will also note, that these nations are the most familiar with the sort of terrain which comes with their chosen sport. I think you will find that there is more snow and ice in Canada, than in the USA. You will find the same with the others you mention.

Not a coincidence really

Got a link to verify this outrage?

(not the Olympic stuff,
the "Dirty ___ smoking, beer drinking, socialists… " part)

It could be an anti-American conspiracy either way.

The olympics is just another way they can siphon off money from people. The organizers are not the ones being paid for by the people coming to see the olympics, it's all about the athletes who are NOT being paid. Seems to me that the olympics are just a verification of the parasitic nature of politics and society in general.

Cheers - Dave

They're also some of the happiest places in the world to live.

Trust an american to sulk because the games are held in russia and they are not cleaning up all the medals

Well not sure about that conspiracy as the games are fun to watch and a slight distraction from the prognosticating rodent conspiracy to forecast the weather. Just shoot me now. I have had enough!

Netherlands is below sea level and doesn't go below freezing.

US and Russia both have mountainous regions and in one case 10x the population of the other countries… the other 5x.

First of all, the weather in the Neatherlands is not what I would call humid all year round. It gets pretty chilly there, contrary to popular thinking on the subject. It does not snow there much, but there again, people from that realm do not sit at home all year. So small is the nation, and so connected with its neighbors, that many people there experience all the weather of all the surrounding nations in their lifetimes.

Semantics. It's chilly yes, it's not a snow tundra. Yes, they can train in switzerland or france, just like the US team can train in denver, the Northern States, and Russians can train in Siberia…

The only real underdog is Jamaica, haven't you seen cool runnings?

No, countries with lots of ice and snow and long winters. That would naturally lend itself to training people in, you know, sports that take place in those conditions.
