Meanwhile Russia is moving backward in social equaiity with its law against homosexuality PLUS media-sanctioned daily 'gay-hunts', another large country (practically a subcontinent itself), India, sees some progress in the institutional treatment of gays:

Until 1974, America's Pyschological Association itself considered homosexuality a mental disease/disorder.

Now a generation later, India's prevailing psychological association, the Indian Psychiatric Society - umbrella for psychiatrists across India - has jointly declared that homosexuality is not a mental illness nor disease

articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com...

"Based on existing scientific evidence and good practice guidelines from the field of psychiatry, the Indian Psychiatric Society would like to state that there is no evidence to substantiate the belief that homosexuality is a mental illness or a disease,'

Indeed, India's high court still criminalized homosexuality. However, the psych community has now confirmed no mental/disease basis for doing so.

I believe Russia's pysch community also removed homosexuality from the psych community as a disease back in 1990(?) but there seems little progress for sexual equality, given that Russian media endorses nationwide 'gay-hunts'. Does india do anything of the sort?

Don't indians culturally recognize a '3rd sex'? Aren't their whole towns/villages where third-sex people congregate in India?
