He said the Noakhali locals lose a lot of deer during the rainy season and that they have to do all they can to protect them.


Yes, it's a nice, touching story - but, he or someone else likely will eat this deer later. When it has more meat. They protect their food-source and do not kill unnecessarily. That, in itself, is heart-warming.

No, because that is what the article implied was going to happen, at least after the deer is grown. Do you think those people want to preserve the local deer population so that they can look at them? I don't think so.

It's not just being nice, in some cultures respecting and being a caretaker for nature is their way of giving thanks. For nature to provide, it's not only fair to give back but the right thing to do. It helps complete the circle of life or pays back a karmic debt. A lot of western society has lost sight of that, despite the fact that we have a holiday called Thanksgiving.
