I find it sort of funny that so many of you find human hair so objectionable but duck feathers? Oh, hey, it's quite all right when it's duck feathers ...

It's not like you bite into the bread and pull back big strings of ropy, gritty hair. It's been broken down into something else entirely.

It's like getting indignant because gelatin is actually animal hooves.

The oils released from the fur of a sheep is the “gum base” used in many types of chewing gums for extra-moisture.

Mehhh... we sometimes act like sheep not knowing what we eat right?

Just wait until you guys figure out what Jello and marshmallows are.

"gelatin" sounds cool, but it's sort of disgusting. I haven't eaten Jello since I was a kid and discovered what it was.

That conversation went something like -

"Mom, I've been eating Jello forever. And I'm sitting here, with a bowl of it, and I'm asking myself, what in nature is clear and plastic-y like this?"

"Well, it's gelatin"

"But what is gelatin?"

"Horses' hooves. And cow hooves. And pig bones. And horse hide. They boil it down and you get gelatin. Jello is horse toenails"

eta: Ketsuko beat me to it by THIIIIIS much. Dagnabit.

Yes KOSHER is always labeled. PARVE or KOSHER
KOSHER is very controlled strict manufacturing process.

The ingredient l cysteine is in a many things,
sometimes it is not labeled in processed foods -

Nice post.

Extracting gelatin is very similar process.

If anything Cysteine is more "pure" (for the layman suffering outrage) as it is a single amino acid, and gelatine is a mixture of proteins and peptides. Also, cysteine is good for the liver…

Chewing hair for a hangover, I recommend it.

@ drain cleaner.

Yeah, and the sodium hydroxide with HCL produces what molecule?

NaCl

Scary!

"Drain cleaner" is used for a variety of other things in food processing too.

There are other processes that are questionable too,
for one I found Hexane is used to "extract" the milk
from Soybeans to make Tofu and Soy milk.

The only brand that does not do this for Soy milk is
EDEN foods brand.
(that I know of)

I was like...what the what? Hexane!
How is that a health food?

How could any of this be legal. Fluffy breads and buns are accomplished through eggs and yeast and raising the dough, the way its handled and kneaded, etc. It has real whole food in it. And also, I like heavy firm, dryish, whole wheat bread with a touch of molasses, pioneer bread like my grandmother made, sliced thin for sandwhiches. Wonderful. Real food.

How can it be legal to put sawdust in our foods, duck feathers in our foods, beaver anas secretions in our food, and human hair in our food? How is it legal. Its not, any "laws" that allow this are crimes against humanity and violate our leaders oath of office thus things have to happen to make them responsible legally for their crimes and for all of this to end asap. We have to figure out what to do to stop this gang of criminals and have good whole food again.

I know basically we all are molecules , and we easily can use different sorts of biological material for extracting substances we can use in many foods. But I did the mad cow disease not start with giving those cows their own kind in the form of cow flour ?
