The Department of Homeland Security has issued a warning to U.S. and some foreign airlines traveling to Russia for the Olympic Games to be on the lookout for toothpaste containers, which some intelligence indicates may actually hold ingredients that could be used to construct a bomb aboard a plane, a senior U.S. official told ABC News.

The official did not provide further details about the warning or the intelligence that prompted it, but an official with the Department of Homeland Security, while declining to discuss the specific warning, said the department "regularly shares relevant information with domestic and international partners, including those associated with international events such as the Sochi Olympics."

"While we are not aware of a specific threat to the homeland at this time, this routine communication is an important part of our commitment to making sure we meet that priority," the official said. "As always, our security apparatus includes a number of measures, both seen and unseen, and DHS will continue to adjust security measures to fit an ever evolving threat environment."

Olympic Threat: US Warns Airlines About Toothpaste Tube Bomb

Just a "warning".

No specific threat.

It must be *Secret* Intelligence?

read the article for the "specifics".

apparently some "Islamists" are telling their people to do all they can to disrupt whatever they can.

and apparently two women were arrested in France for something or other.

I wonder if the "Widows" are back with dentures now?

A toothpaste bomb? o.O For real?

I'd imagine someone would have better luck trying to down an aircraft with a plan to eat a lot of bean burritos, and a match....

Man, we're a sad sack in the States. Now we're going to have toothpaste paranoia running amok. God forbid they see a Middle Easterner with a tube anywhere, holy cow.

Just wait to see how Airport Security becomes entirely new levels of intimate after a suppository is used in some evil way.

Errr... Tooth Paste Bomb? Really?? So, they could have made this simpler by just saying it could be in anything, as any substance. That covers it with less confusion, indeed.

What's just as silly as people paranoid by everything are people here willing to write off a possibility because it seems stupid to them.

Let me ask a question , how damaging would an explosion be in a pressurized aircraft?

We used to get warnings like this all the time. Some we new were almost certainly BS but the warning was sent out anyway.

Considering that a Philippine Airlines 747 missed coming down in pieces by one seat, using a bottle for contact lense cleaner a toothpaste tube would be plenty.

I don't know about a bomb, but in a pinch I suppose you could just open
up the tube and threaten everybody with fluoride poisoning...

People should travel nude , period ( and all ). Your clothes ( even a well-built straight jacket ) will not save you from an exploding Chinese component.

The geniuses at TSA never flew before... so , they're excited. About the whole thing, that is.

I was going to reply with a snarky comment in order to display my contempt for this latest "threat" intel regarding terrorism and/or travel security, but I honestly couldn't come up with anything after several attempts. It's just all so asinine at this point my brain can't even comprehend it in a sarcastic light.

I'm just grateful I don't fly and travel to the United States. It just seems far too much hassle and worry. If I ever do travel abroad I'm going to try very hard to do without flying.

If a guy is willing to load up his underwear with bombs, In this Insane day and age , I think the worry of Nitro-glycerin or some kind of plastic explosive in a toothpaste roll is a very reasonable Idea .

We live In a world where true evil is around every corner.

If they really had a threat why would they withhold any information about it? You would think if it was real they should give all the information on said therat so pepole would know what to look for and not disclosing is a D-Bag move that IMO makes them responsible as well.

IF it was real
