The Octopus/Promis case was one of the things that got me into conspiracy theories. All of this went down during the Iran-Contra years.Danny's death coincided with the end of many of the trails of some of the players involved.Which I have always seen as odd timing. Was he onto something?

I don't think anyone knows who really fried their enrichment program. I also don't think anyone realizes the depth and breadth of the whole cyber containment/defense mechanism/ posture Homeland security has interwoven with the NSA. While I was a researcher at Mary Ferrel we talked a lot about "internet b"-Mr. Spock's alternative universe of the internet-that runs along side to the internet everyone uses everyday. I'm not being fictional here there is just no other way to describe it. It was simply a way to postulate how difficult it is to understand how terabytes of information simply move in and out of research databases for those who have clearances to research inside them. It's bizarre-and that was more than 10 years ago.

Along comes Snowden spilling the beans about something that was not really all that secret in the first place-then 'boom' all this data disappears again like magic. My, My ,My what a tangled web we can create with a 'well duh' media and a buyout program for those in the know who have no choice whatsoever to take the money and clam up for life.

I know I make fun of you guys sometimes but I'm also trying to tell you something at the same time. From some of the responses there are those here that understand that. The whole octopus/offing people who find secrets searching google is nothing but warm bullsh*t larded out for some of you to wallow in. You can't wait to dive in- oh how we just love it when a plan works well.

I'll tell you something else. At anytime in America there are somewhere around 800-1000 American citizens working on a contract basis for the CIA. It could be anyone-the woman next door, a doctor, a teenager, a homeless person, a prison inmate or even a Priest for that matter. Eyes and ears are the fuel of the spook business and the sooner you realize that the better you can understand why I make fun of you here about your obsession with searching google for the gold key to the crapper. Your not realizing that the Indian that gives you change at the stop-and rob for a pack of smokes is really the one you need to be wary of.

The cozy nature this all intercedes with the media-television-movie industry is far more alarming for those who have spent time on both sides. The programmable nature of Americans, through the lens of the movie and television industry, is far more dangerous than anything your ever going to find searching google.

Try to remember the way Roger Waters put it.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

Not intending to start a riot under the guise of Captain Obvious, but I think that was EXACTLY the gist of spooky's post....I get the feeling that we should consider his theories...

"internet b"-Mr. Spock's alternative universe of the internet-that runs along side to the internet everyone uses everyday.

Well...the alternative internet is no longer a conspiracy or sci-fi
Alternative Internet

I especially enjoyed this (I paraphrase):

...your buddy Google: 60% pornography-35% advertisements and 5% 'secret government information'

You really think they post 5% ? I mean unless it's obsolete and outdated, yes, but otherwise I doubt it.

Yes but this was discussed 10 years ago.

The whole subject of secret government conspiracy programs that bump you off if you happen to find something searching google and they fear you might have 'got em' is so contrived that it borders lunacy. Not that it doesn't go on just the whole 'google search' form of research is the ole forest and trees.

It never occurs to the 'researchers'-and I use that loosely-that their search results is exactly what someone WANTS them to see. This octopus thing is a classic use of keeping them fed at the looney trough.

Thanks for the clues and insight. I am not familiar with you or your posts. Are you posting from the "inside" - or are you a former insider posting for the outside? I know there are a few of you with similar enigmatic peculiarities...

I would say the latter is closer to being correct. I try to get people to understand that they have so much more to fear from the media than they do any kind of shadow government agency.

Also, to try to get people to understand the basics of investigation, research and to understand when they are being played like a fiddle.

An image of this from a fiction story. A kid is getting ready to go on a shooting spree, he gathers all his ammo and heads down the embankment to start pooping at cars on the freeway, he stops to ponder his situation.

A clever investigator has blown his cover. I'll paraphrase:

"The letter, the godamn fucing letter. Detective Dickhead spread that out like a warm bucket of owlsh!t and invited me to dance. Not only did I dance in it, I fell on my ass and thanked him for the opportunity to throw everything down the drain.

He ponders more:

How could I have been so stupid not to see the trap he was setting?
How could I have been so ignorant to walk right into his trap?
And why oh why did I underestimate this guy?

That is quiescently the message. Recognize when your being fooled, led into a trap and most important-never-never underestimate anyone-in this day an age-anyone could set you up.

This is the message to get across to persons who use only google to do so called research-especially 9/11 truthers-is that yes, they are spreading out a bucket of warm owlsh!t for you to dance in-and get trapped in-just like the kid in the story. It really matters none what topic you are getting information from google searches to learn from. Just like when you train people to avoid bad situations by stop-look-listen after you park your car in an unfamiliar spot. Same thing-stop to look at what your search has brought up- Who wrote this ?, who is presenting it to me ?, what media outlet is hosting this information? That is the easily the best way to avoid being taken for a ride. Is the government involved in these free rides-yes, of course they are, again, especially 9/11 truthers, however it the media that has the most to gain.

They want to know everything about you. They know they can trick most people who are not watching what they are doing by slight of hand. You search for operation Octopus and get several web pages to choose from. One of the pages has a Victoria's Secret add of a beautiful young woman barely clad-out of nonresistance habit you click on it-they got you. You are now a member-like it or not-of their data pool that is grouped and sold to marketeers. You figure that is OK-they know I can be distracted by a pretty young woman-so what? most guys are like that.

This is the point I'm trying to get across-it's much deeper than that. Now everything from your IP address to your vehicle registration, your shopping habits, your debt and anything else is fair game. Yes, the government has an incredible super structure to spy on people, everyday people but it is the media that reaps the rewards of the obvious unconstitutional intrusion.

Have you ever wondered why the National media never focuses on this intrusion? You would think this would be big news-big brother is watching and all that-yet it stays buried because they all (the National and Network media) are involved in using the governments
personal microscope to learn things about you.

That is the message.

Some things are better to be left alone. I think this was a matter of national security. Watch where you go with this as im sure its being monitored by some shady folks. Going to check back in later to see what everyone else knows.

Um, you do know this website is called Above Top Secret, don't ya?

Surprisingly, they teach young people in school - English 12 and other classes - how to discern fact from fiction in media manipulations like commercial advertising, the news and the so-called scientific studies they always quote from, and also from internet websites. So many people are quite weary of online information. Most people. But the more open minded ones, the ones whose mind's are so loose air blows through, may not be paying attention. It starts off as intrigue bordering on entertainment. But it is often closely connected to an idiosyncratic or psychological quirk particular to the individual and what he/she is researching. Then it becomes almost religious, if mania and strong feelings are involved. Then the paranoia and all of the rest of it. I have already gone through the full cycle and now mostly don't give a shi* anymore about any of it! Some interesting conspiracies, and all kinds of new groundbreaking information - yes - but I have heard most of it all before, and the internet is just completely saturated with links to this video or website or that blog or presentation. It's gotten to be a little bit too much...

I'm with the "oh give me a break no black ops are gonna bother with a bunch of computer jockeys googling 'secret' conspiracies," crowd (of one or two shills, heh).

However, a real journalist with real contacts and a real possibility of finding and publishing? People have been killed for much, much less.

I know there are secret govt and private orgs that do illegal, nefarious things... and in many cases I understand and support them as the world is rather dangerous... but the corruption and killing to protect corrupt fat cats is something else.

But ultimately, fear and paranoia is the mind killer, to paraphrase Frank Herbert. However, there is a "there there" in many cases and the odd "suicides" attached to them and this might be one of them.

Interesting... I'd forgotten about this one. Now the ones nobody has heard about yet are reeeeeally intrestin'.

Without a doubt that is fact. I remember during the mid 90's (who here remembers Windows 95) When the internet was called the 'information superhighway' how every one wondered how this would play out in the next 20 years. There was unanimous agreement that pornography would rule although I don't recall anyone saying that no attempt what so ever would be made to keep it from prepubescent children-and our society would just accept it as normal that an 8 year old has a constitutional right to watch Dancing Bear.

There is a complete and absolute national media blackout, across the entire spectrum, of this as any media is far to frightened as getting labeled with the dreaded 'C' label that would bring out the worst in the so called constitutional nutcases and their -censorship conspiracies.

Now lets go back to your statement, that the saturation of links and videos on some subjects is so profound that it is to much to deal with. However on this important topic-keeping violent, degrading and sometimes sickening pornography out of the reach of prepubescent's (where studies and common sense say it is the most damaging) there is practically nothing!

You are not going to see some blonde, leggy Fox babe moderating a panel discussion on the dangers of live, streaming sex shows nor is Al Sharpton going to blame the 'wealthy southern white man' for this irresponsible ostrich policy of the entire media-from the far, far left to the far, far right.

At this point I can personally agree with some of the hard core conspiracy pundits on ATS, and beyond, that this is a government led conspiracy of the highest magnitude.

Is the dreaded, nightmarish, downright Apocalyptic term 'censorship' really that scary and shocking that the media and the nations elite must keep it from the public?

According to reverend Al every single African American male in every prison in America is there because they were framed by the 'wealthy southern white man'-then how can he not blame them for Suicide Girls. com also.

I'm wondering if we can poison the database with fake data.
It would nice to know that they are hunting Humprey W. Hales just like a real person. It could be the best prank, lasting for 30 years in archive, imagine that, most wanted money launderer turn out to be a whale, maybe 4chan group can think of something cool for their storage - a prank that last quarter a century!
