Since “science guy” Bill Nye’s upcoming Feb. 4 debate with anti-evolutionist Ken Ham at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., was made public a few weeks ago, atheist activists have spoken out fervently against the initiative.

Nye responded to evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, among other critics this week, and explained why, despite their frustration, he’s still planning to go head-to-head with Ham.

While atheists like Dawkins have warned that scientists engaging with creationists is ideologically dangerous and gives undue publicity to those who oppose evolution, Nye said that he wants to battle the anti-evolution sentiment that is still held by many Americans — a view that he believes could hamper the nation’s progression.

“Well I don’t think I’m going to win Mr. Ham over any more than Mr. Ham thinks he’s going to win me over, if I understand that expression ‘win over,’” he told HuffPost Live’s Josh Zepps in an interview this week. “Instead, I want to show people that this belief is still among us … it finds its way onto school boards in the United States.”

I am not sure yet what to think about this event. Is it giving publicity to radical museum, and how do you debate arrogance? Let's see Bill Maher's interview with Ken:

Debate is tomorrow, let's see what is this going to bring us...

Man those atheists sure do hate the god talk, allmost with a religious passion. It seems these days the most coveted religion is the one that claims it isn't!

Either way, I'm good, I believe what I believe and I don't need blowhard assbags like Nye or that other guy speaking for me.

Seriously, why not just keep your mind open?

The atheist is going to think that Bill Nye is going to win and the God Fearing man will know that Ken Ham will win. So I'm going to cheerlead for Ken Ham. Hoorah!!!

I have to go with Bill Nye even though I expect a stalemate.

These "debates" are beyond ridiculous.
I have listened to several of them and not a single one was worth the time.

Funny that its gonna be held in a "creationist museum". Haha

Just want to tag this thread for later ...I don't know if you can get a winner/looser out of these kind of debates ..It wont matter either way because most if not all will probably want to hang on to their own bias they have always had ..peace

Well if you like the girl, I suggest you play nice! Seriously.

Personally, I am on Team both. Who knows, maybe I am right. Maybe both are correct.

Sounds fun.

I'll be sure to try catching the viddy.

Given the nature of the debate, both sides will come away thinking they've won, but, I think this match might come down more to baiting in seeing how much more ridiculous one can paint the other.

I'm on Bill Nye's side for this BTW.

Whatever the case, this should be entertaining.

There won't be a winner nor a loser - both sides will declare victory, obviously.

What a waste of time.
Me myself I have given up trying to get people to think for themselves. Those who didn't before won't do it in the future.

You know what I'd rather have?

A debate from a theologically trained biblical scholar ,

And a fundy.

You can't argue with someone when they don't understand some very basic concepts of their own professed faith.

Much akin to how scientist wouldn't want bill nye giving credence to it by debating it, I feel the same as an educated theist he is arguing with someone with flawed understanding giving credence to already fallacious views stacked on ignorance.

Neither of these guys are actual scientists... that's the amusing part...

Though I do believe Bill at least has a firm grasp on the concepts... he is "the science guy" after all...

What do we call Ken ham?

He has a BA in science... and a lawsuit against his character...
