I've seen plenty of psychopaths go through their lives without their misdeeds ever effecting them.

Sure, in this lifetime.

Did you read about the 3 bankers who have suddenly "offed" themselves? Reported as Suicide? 3 of them.

Those of us who believe in karma don't think it "comes back to haunt them" in this lifetime necessarily, but eventually. It has to do with the survival of consciousness after death, and the 'karmic debt' is then addressed.

I don't disagree. There's a difference - and the words we're using do mean different things

Do you need empathy to be able to tell when someone is faking their love?

It's useful to be able to put yourself in their place and feel what they're feeling - but you can still feel the falseness even when you can't empathize

As you just said - maybe it's the combination that gets us where we want to go - but which gets us there faster?

Intuition is lightening fast - and not as well understood

I'd argue that even if it's quick, empathy still involves more thinking - and reason

I think you're correct, but if you're relying on intuition in the absence of cognitive/affective empathy, you're not going to be correct as often.

Or maybe, you have a need for what you say to be true due to your belief system. :p

I've addressed those threads. It doesn't make a lick of sense. There's far too many wholes in the reasoning presented.

Wholes? *chuckle* I know you meant holes, my friend.

Are you talking about the banker suicide threads?

Or the ones that talk about karmic debt being addressed after death or a NDE?

I don't have a belief regarding the topic. You do.

I have self-evident truth.

Please take you woo-woo elsewhere.

Thats what i like about it.

Well as you yourself said, it's unfortunate. I feel sorry for you because I suspect that someday, all the pain you've caused will find its way back to you one way or another. What goes around comes around.

I would recommend that you focus on compassion (including self-compassion) before you do any more damage to yourself and others.

Neither. The survival of consciousness after death, and the supposed "science" behind it.

For every narcissist that offs their selves (do you really believe that?), there are orders of magnitude more parasites who laugh until their death.

Well, neither do I. I have experience. You believe I have a mere belief, and that's your belief. :p

Hey pal two can play at this game.

empathy still involves more thinking

I think empathy and intuition are linked and empathy can be immediate, but that depends on the definition and apparently there is some confusion, maybe I am thinking of compassion.

6 of one - half dozen of another?

:-)

we're all wrong - often. Too many preconceived notions and other things get in the way of really understanding each other - it's a wonder we all get along at all

See Stormdancer - I agree - to me that's what this is really all about - compassion

The product of all our empathy should be compassion

P.S. Sometimes we do get lost in all the words - it does help to understand what we're talking about

How so?

If you're referring to my suspicion that the pain he caused will catch up with him, I simply mean that karma can catch up with people in later lifetimes, when they are someone else.

I would prefer it if the pain that monsters cause catch up with them in the lifetime in which they cause the pain, but it doesn't work that way.

Oh, and don't tell me to take my 'woo-woo' to another thread. You aren't the OP or a mod. It's not your place to tell me to do anything. You aren't the boss of me. :p

we are all flawed

Everyone can be sympathetic or empathetic to one degree or another, some are more so then others, we are all flawed and I can be a real judgmental bitch at times and then I feel guilty for it.

That' where conscience comes in.

That's why I see a psychiatrist

I'm so glad I'm not the only one admitting I can be less than congenial!! It is a double-edged kind of trait, isn't it??

But I think the thread has run its course, maybe. My fault.....
