Edward Snowden has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by two Norwegian lawmakers, who say the NSA whistleblower contributed to “transparency and global stability” by revealing the depth and sophistication of the global surveillance apparatus.

Snorre Valen and Baard Vegar Solhjell, parliamentarians from Norway’s Socialist Left Party, announced the nomination on Facebook on Wednesday.

Noting that “peace is more than simply the absence of war,” the MPs said that Snowden had contributed to global security by revealing “the nature and technological prowess of modern surveillance.”

Just saw this, excellent news, and by Swedish PMs no less!

Now for the debate on which Nobel Prize winner/nominee, Snowden or Obama, is a dangerous traitor worthy of life in prison.

Not a hoax; from the RT website:

The deadline to nominate candidates for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize is Saturday. The winner is announced on the second Friday of October each year.

In October, a group of US whistleblowers presented Snowden with the Sam Adams Award for ‘Integrity in Intelligence’ in Moscow, where the former NSA was granted temporary asylum.

Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern, who was present at the ceremony, told RT the award “is a candlestick holder for someone, who has shone bright light into dark corners.”

In July, the German branch of Transparency International also awarded Snowden its Whistleblower Award. That same month, a Swedish sociology professor also nominated NSA leaker Snowden for the Nobel Peace Prize for his “heroic effort at great personal cost.”

Professor Stefan Svallfors said giving Snowden the Nobel nod could “save the prize from the disrepute incurred by the hasty and ill-conceived decision” to give the 2009 award to Barack Obama.

SnF... IMHO they should strip Obama of the mis-issued prize and present it to our home grown hero Mr Snowdon....

I find it strange that one recipient desires the death of another recommended for the same prize.... sort of goes against the principles of the Nobel and again IMHO.....

As I predicted for which I was immediately scoffed and mocked (by many) here on ATS - the usual govt gatekeepers.

I have been praying for this - and will continue in those prayers until the day that he is finally awarded the prize for peace - and this prize will be accepted in the name of ALL WHISTLEBLOWERS throughout the world, and I am sure that humble Ed Snowden would state it that way as well.

Lets see now if the dirt-bag Obama/Holder team continue in their unjustifiable pursuit of Snowden as a traitor when in actuality he's an American hero in the eyes of the entire world.

Obama has no place to hide and he and his evil brethren and coven of witches in the WH will have been totally humiliated by Edward Snowden- AMEN

Hey, if Obama can get one for doing absolutely nothing to deserve it....

Why the hell shouldn't Snowden get one.

Hell, I'd give him two.

Maybe Stockholm will give it to him, as a way to punish themselves for giving it to Obama.

This should not be news, its just two super communist guys trying to get their 5 minutes of fame.

If the Greece were in the Nobel nomination process the Golden Dawn would nominate something crazy too

ok my bad they dont look so bad as the evil communist i think they was

(rolling my eyes).

I guess he deserves a medal it is what he wanted all along.

Honestly what is the guy's deal? I'm glad he did what he did but what is / are his motives?

I'll bet he doesn't give a damn about you or me, so did he do it for the attention, for fortune? It just seems too weird.

Lets just say I don't think he's a 'hero'. (just my opinion.)

I hope you see the irony in that.

He's got my vote and it's good to see at least that part of the world recognizing this for what it is.
