Artist: Lamb of God
Album: Sacrament (2006)
Track: Walk with me in hell

When Rome is ablast and the Apocalypse rains fire and brimstone over the battlefield, this is what I'll put on, a sweet psalm for the weary, refreshment for the hellbound. Enjoy!

Well... it is death metal. The "cookie monster" vocals are kiiiind of a staple to the genre.

If its not your thing try these bands on:

Blind guardian
Nightwish
Epica (they employ low vox as well but also employ a very operatic style)
TYR
Whyzdom
Iced earth
Magic kingdom

I could go on but...

For those that like a more brutal sound:

Carnifex
When we buried the ringmaster
Into eternity
Cradle of filth
Rings of Saturn
shag harbor
Archspire

Enjoy, metal heads!

Do you like any black metal?

This song is one of my all-time favorites.

Like CagliostroTheGreat said, it's the rule in death metal, what kind of music do you listen to then?

I listen to all kinds of music really, not just metal. I used to hate metal, but after years and years working on and around stages, I learned to like it. And the mentality. My experience is that metal musicians in general are very down to earth people who respect the local crews and often help out with the rigging. I've been lucky enough to work for both these bands indirectly as stage crew on a festival once, and they sure deliver.

I'm sorry to say that eventhough I come from the "land of black metal", I don't listen to a lot of it. When I listen to metal it's mostly thrash- and death metal. I also like viking metal and whatever you'd call this:

Artist: Solefald
Album: Norrøn Livskunst (2010)
Track: Song til stormen

I am a metal fan from way back. Funny, back in the day we had heavy metal, now there are so many genres of metal...death metal, black metal, thrash, speed, etc. My taste in music though is quite diverse, from metal to classical. Just don't make me sit through oldies. LOL

Agreed. There are so many genres of metal it may seem like you could easilly hear a new song in a new genre every day for a year. Below is wikipedia's list of heavy metal subgenres:

en.wikipedia.org...

About speed metal, I once partied with Motörhead. Didn't end so well. Then again, that's rock'n'roll....

I've partied with a few bands myself back in the day. No, I wasn't a groupie and never slept with anyone. Now I'm just an old disabled lady with back problems and a very uneventful life. LOL
