Ofsted chief: reward good citizens who check why children are not at school

The government should look at rewarding "good citizens" to knock on their neighbours' doors and demand why their children are not in school, the chief inspector of schools has said.

Wilshaw said: "These families need to know that they can't go on treating their children like this, they can't go on behaving in this manner and they've got to hit the targets that are being set by social workers.

This idea is dumb from top to bottom not to mention orwellian, Can you imagine if you home educate or your kids home sick for a few days and every day you get some government sanctioned creep knocking on the door telling you you are a bad parent, that your child should be in school and asking if you remembered to feed them breakfast.

Like people in the comments on the article point out there would be alot of black eyes and broken noses.

Seriously though how out of touch with reality does the head of ofsted (Ofsted is the government body that oversees education) have to be to be seriously suggesting this.

Every few moths someone in the government seems to throw up an idea like this, its quite worrying to see how the beaurocrats think.

To much interference in our lives by BIG government. From the day we were born and issued a birth certificate (proof of ownership) we were enslaved. I believe it is time that American's woke up and stood up. A rally in DC is what we need for the people, by the people. May 16th 2014 patriotsforamerica.ning.com... I think this is an extremely sophisticated and underhanded method of control. Many people won't fall in to lockstep with The State sanctioned march even if you make threats to their person; but if you threaten to take their children from them... well...

There is an insidious creep of this type of mentality targeting the children of the general populace. It is accelerating, because it works when nothing else will.

while a rally and protests would be good this is in the UK and unfortunatly the socialist ideology is dominant here although this suggested spying seems to be a step to far by most peoples standards
